rock shaft action?

i have a 37 jd a with a rock shaft on it.is the action on this all or nothing- all the way up or all the way down,nothing in the middle???thank you.

That is the way it should work. There were levers on the cultivators and gage wheels on the plows to set the depth. The power-trol on the later models had a stop on the cylinders to trip their relief valves and stop them at the right depth.
