Terramite BHL

Thinking about investing in TBL for around the farm, ran across a used Terramite, being in Canada I never even heard of them before, haven't gone to look at it yet, but low hours and cheap compared to a Kubota. Don't really need a big hoe, but want something that isn't going to require a lot of repair, so most older BHL are out, lotsa MF , Case and others around but most need a whole lot of TLC. Anyone any comments?

Brother-in-law has one. It does what he wants to do. I think his comment was it beat a shovel! I"ve run his a bit and was impressed to what it would do for its size. If I hadn"t run his I would rent one before I baught one to see if it was what I wanted.

I rented one to do my septic system. It was diesel, Perkins I think. It got the job done, not as fast as a full size one, but OK. The fact that they hold up in rental service is probably a good sign.

I was a mechanic at a rental outfit for 3 years. We had two terramites. Biggest problem we had on them was leaks and front drive wheel motors. Both due mostly to abuse.

If you take care of them and and don't beat them, they're pretty capable. (But that's true of most equipment, isn't it?) The Perkins diesel is a sweeheart.
