Senior Moment X 2

I left work early today, came home and got the wife and we went and voted. Came home and ate lunch and then unloaded the wagons I combined last night. Filled 3 more wagons and came in to unload. Started the auger and then pulled the combine over and was dumping the hopper into the wagon as it unloaded when all of a sudden corn started flying out the top of the auger and down the bin roof. I got the wagon door shut and then I remembered I hadn't turned the spreader on. Now I have a mess to clean up. I finished unloading the wagons and decided to level the bin before I went back out to the field. Climbed the bin with a shovel in my hand and when I got to the roof, I realized I had to raise the auger to get the door open where the ladder is at. Back down the ladder and raise auger and then back up the bin. I'll probably remember all of this till next year and then have to go thru it all over again. I got into some dryer corn, 18 to 19%. Feel better about that. Corn is not good, green snapped real bad last June, doubt it'll make a hundred bu/acre. Oh yea, today is our 36th wedding anniversary. Chris

congradulations on your 36th!!!!!! i am hitting my 20th anniversary the 12th of nov.
them senior moments really get ya tho. seems like i have been getting them more frequently lately too!!!

Why didn't some one tell us about getting old?? I've learned everything the hard way, now I forgot half of it.

Hey Chris, guy outside of town custom cutting some beans and putting it in there bin and they didnt put the bin doors in, what a mess. Just glad I didnt do it. I cut 22 acres of late beans and only got 350 bushels, not good either. Some corn last nigh was 14 moisture and around 120 in wet ground, rest is wet still.

It happens a lot for me, one thing comes to mind. While mowing sometimes I would get my tractor high centered from my mower digging into a mound of dirt. This caused one wheel to loose tractionand spin leaving the other rear wheel to stop turning. I would head for my shovel to dig out my mower. I didn't realize all I would needed to do is engage the differential lock, to have the other wheel gain traction. I just realized this a week ago when I got stuck again. The tractor just drove right out after I engaged the differential lock. I have been digging my mower out for the last 3-4 years. Sad part is I knew my tractor had the differential lock. Chris congrats on the 36 years wedding anniversary. My wedding anniversary is this month I must be close to 40 years. I think we have gotton over the hard part, or maybe the hard part is ahead of us. stan

Yeah but--when ya pass 80 or so, ya get to thinking ya might as well do something to keep busy! I turned 84 in September last, and in August i bought a wrecked Ranger pickup, and rebuilt it into a daily driver! And thats not mentioning all of the mowers and tractors i fixed this summer! I tried retirement at age 70, from auto body work, but if i had sat there another couple months, i wouldn't be here now!
So, when ya retire---DO NOT go home and set back in yer rockin' chair, because ya won't last very long!
Anybody have a fixable late model car? My 95 Buick is near retirement time!

hate to think about what I'm in for in the next 15 years...........
I have to make a 5 km loop to check out the horses scattered on several pastures around town twice a day. Always run into someone and BS a little, then forget which ones I checked and have to start over.
