Any one here from Scottsbluff, Nebraska?? I have a son who is moving there. Would like to know more about the area and the farmland in that area. Thanks, Henry

Don't live there but I am within 60 miles. It's a pretty good town lots going on. Surrounded with a lot of irrigation, mostly ditch water out of Wyoming. It sets in the western end of the North Platte Valley. They raise mostly corn, sugar beets, dry beans, & some alfalfa. Up until the early 80's it was pretty good land to raise sugar beets on. It got really farmed out. Now a majority of the beets are grown around Alliance and Hemingford, 60 miles or so to the N/E. If you go either North or South 10 miles or so, you starting running into rougher buttes and then flattens out to grasslands.Don't know if you have ever heard of Chimney Rock that was on the Oregon Trail, it sets about 20 miles east of Scottsbluff. Later, Dan

My college roomate was from there. (Gering actually) His family farms south of there a good distance. Been there several times myself. Mostly pasture and CRP now but was fallow strips and wheat for many years, dryland corn, and millet. Farmed with old Oliver 99's and 990's, then 4wd verstiles and wagners. Any serious farming, I would look for irrigation.
