just purchased a C was looking for serial number on top of transmission by gear shift it has N1 whats this ?
motor has number AM2916-12
rear housing AM 3219-4

any help?

Serial number will be stamped into a pad cast into the transmission case directly in front of the gearshift lever. The "AM_XXXX" numbers are casting numbers, not serial numbers. There should also be a "CEXXXX" number stamped into the top of the rear flange of the block casting on the right side.

The block casting number tells that the block was cast in 1940. The serial number will make it a 1940 or 1941 if the engine is the one that came with the tractor. Ya never know after 60 years or so.

ok thanks for where to look sanded off the block and found C 2951 am I holding a 1941?

its needs a clutch any suggestions ?
