Anybody ever own a fast car when they were young?
When i was 20, i put a 300 hp. 351 windsor and automatic trans along with a 3.56 geared limited slip 9 in. Ford rearend into a 1974 Mustang II.
300 hp in a 2800 lb. body sure is fun when you are a kid. Of course that was almost 30 yrs. ago. It sure was a big job to put the 351 in where a 4 cyl.came out. That little car was ugly as sin but that thing would SCREAM !!!!!!!
Probably didn"t have $250.00 in that swap combo.
I still think about that car alot, when i want to go fast. But the go fast days are getting few and far between.
I guess it was my own combo that made it so special to me,and i done it all by myself.
It doesn"t sound like much now but back then there was nothing around that could run with it.
I hardly drove that that thing without my knees shaking when i got out of it. MAN THAT THING WOULD SCREAM.
Tell me about yours.

I had a 81 chevy pickup that I put a 350 olds big block in. It was fast and loud. I also had a ford f250 with a factory 460 4bbl. It was probably the fastest I've had.

never really had a fast car but had a bro.-in-law that did 70 torino totally stock fastest thing i ever sat in.do you think sometimes guys at factory put some not so stock goods in a car just for a joke?

Aloha,
Hopped up my mom"s 1951 6 cyl desoto when I was 15 years old back in the 50"s. Milled the heads, hot coil, edmunds custom intake with 2 Stromberg 97"s, expanders for the pistons, and split the exhaust manifold for duals. Ate up a lot of cars my class and better. WOW, those were the good old days!

Mahalo,
doogdoog

I still got mine. 351 cleveland, 4.11 gear 9 inch with a mini spool. C-4 reverse manual valve body trans. 11.65 at 113 mph quarter mile. 1.60 sixty foot time.

I had a 1963 Ford Fastback with a 390 4-barrel, automatic transmission. Would lay a streak of rubber when it hit 2nd gear.

1957 Chevy with a 327/365 in it.
1969 Chevelle w/350 stock.

A buddy of mine had a 1968 Road Runner with stock 383. Man did that thing fly low ! 8) It could burn rubber in all four gears ! I outran the cops one night in it.

Hi Rustnsuch, That would be my first car, 1967ss chevelle. It was a 396 origanaly, but when I got it it had a 350 in it. My dad watched over me as I took the engine out and rebuilt it. My dad had all kinda seceret ingredients to add, such as bore it .060 over, flat top pistons, double hump heads,202 valves, 267/486 camshaft, angle plugged the spark plug holes, eledbracht intake, holly 1150 duel line double pumper carb, duel point dist. and to follow up the rear was a Muncie 4-speed... Talk about WHIPPLASH!!!! My dad drove it more than I did, and come to find out, (He let it slip years later) that He had won many races with my car.. Talk about knees shaking, just listening to it idle and quick throttle responce made my body do things that wasnt normal (except looking at a barly coverd Snap-On poster girl) if you know what I mean. Dummy Me, I traded it for a 1968 c-10 chevy p/u (good trade at the time because my parents moved from the city to the country)I was still living at home, But if I knew then , what I know now I would still have it! Still kicking my self in the rearend!! I have a 1968 .030 over slightly cammed 396(425hp) chevelle motor and 400 turbo trans. just waiting for a transplant if the right car comes along . I am gonna bring some memories back in my life!! SEE YA LATER, D.G.
P.S. I was only 15years old at the time.

I droped a 283 in a vega , it was scary ! Drove my brothers Nova with a built 396 for a yr. or so , it would set ya back in the seat . Brother had a stock Olds 442 , that was a fine car .

I had a "55 Chevy 210 series, two door wagon. It wasn"t the Nomad, it was what Chevy called the Handyman, sorta like the Sedan Delivery but with rear quarter windows. Dad and I built a 283 bored .030 over with a set of power pack heads and an early Corvette cam (forget all the specs but the .519 lift)with solid lifters. It was topped off with a Holley spread bore carb. Being a wagon it was a sucker car to the max and I loved it. Even more I know Dad loved for me to go to sea so he could take it out and play with it too. He just loved to play with the new 5.0 Mustangs that had just hit the market.

Basically the engine didn"t sound like anything really "special" but it turned out to be a great combination of parts. With the origional 3 speed and "3.53" rear gear it would burn the tires off in first and keep right on doing it through all three gears.

Did a later upgrade to a 4 speed Saginaw and it lost some of it"s bottom end "quickness" but just got faster. One wasted set of spider gears later and a new 3.23 gear and I had her running somewhere close to 160 MPH one night coming out of Hickory on I40. Just guessing here but I know the speedo was bouncing past 130 and I knew about how many MPH I got per RPM so I was going buy the tach which was pushing 6500. Put it this way it had electric wipers and they had climbed nearly all the way up the windshield by themselves before I backed off. I never saw the headlights of the guy that was racing me in my rearview past about the first half mile.

In it"s final configuration with the Saginaw and a 10 bolt rear out of a Camero (lost the origional one at the Suffolk, VA drag strip running low 13"s in the quarter). Like this I liked to pick races on the toll road into VA Beach and run the guys up to 100 and drop back to third and bark the tires beside their door.

Lucky I never got myself killed but I know I had the most fun with that car I ever had, and got more thumbs up than I could possibly count.

I always had a nice car because my dad collected cars and my grandfather was the local Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer. In high school I was given a 1969 Mercury Cyclone GT Dan Gurney Special. I remember it had a 351C. I later owned 1969 Mercury Cyclone 428 Cobra Jet. Now that car was very fast. The local teens would hold drag races at the airport on Sunday afternoons. The sheriff would drop the flag for us if we drove safely during the week and attended church on Sunday. The runway that was used was abandoned but still in good shape. The fastest car there was my uncle's 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500XL FASTBACK. It had a 390 4 barrel with a 4 speed. Enough memories for now.

Mine was a 73 Dart Sport .

It had a well built 1968-340 with a 727 with a 9" convertor.
It was set up as a factory Super Stock car with the springs moved in and the rear wheel wells banded to hold a 12" wide slick.

The body was perfect and painted the Dodge Super Blue [Richard Petty, blue]. I later added a N.O.S cheater system to the car.

The roll cage sure took a nice rideing car and made it ride rough .

Anyway the fastest it went was was a 11.15 at 122mph. Not bad for a all steel car in 1994 and i would street drive this car .

I never had a problem with the local cops as far as the slicks and early flow masters went, but i was careful as to when i let it loose.

1974 chevelle laguna. factory 454, turbo 400, 3.42posi rear. built to around 450 horses. N50-15 rears. Use to do dry pavement donuts in the middle of main street. street raced the local blacktop every weekend. undefeated for 2 years. you could get away with alot more in the early 80s. sucks to be responsible now. ran high 12s at the strip the one time i took it there.

Bought a 70 or 71 Pontiac Lemans with a 428 when I was a junior in high school for $400 from a friends dad. That car was a power house but... when I got it home my Pa checked it out and said the body was all bondo, the suspension what shot, springs, bushings, he found out alot of things that he said needed work. He made me bring it back. $400. My dad is one that can fix anything, I am not really sure if he made me bring it back because it needed some work, or because he didnt want me to kill myself in it. With all the replacement parts there are today I sure wish I had the car sitting in my shed. Other than that I was always a truck man. Had a '77,(2) '79's, and a '83, all dodges, all 318's 2 with the grannie 4sp.

my first fast car was a 1968 z -28 camaro, that thing got me in more trouble than a preachers daughter on friday nite, also a few years later had a 69 mustang gt, and my last fast one was a 1938 chevy coupe i put the engine and tranny out of a wrecked 1970 corvette in that with a rear end out of a '74 nova that thing would fly, i got pics but there real pics and i dont have the means to upload then on here, the fastest thing i ever drove was a 308 gti ferrari, [ like the one on magnum pi] only 1 time, i had to take the roof panel off to fit my 6'4 self into the car was a heck of a ride, but i never got it topped out, though, as i past 130 mph, and i still had 1 whole gear left and most of another, i got to thinking how much that thing cost vs what i made for wages back then and shut her down, probably the smart thing to do

'66 Chevelle with a 327-325hp in it. Three speed trans. Weighed 3180# and man could it fly!! Traded it off on a 1970 Monte Carlo.
Paul

Had a 57 chevy in 1965--327 4 speed lots of fun----now I'm almost 60 and I still have a hot rod-----63 SS Impala--409/425HP 4 speed Pos-I-Traction

1956 Pontiac Star Cheif, I think it was a 286 Pontiac with Hydro. Could haul 8 guys 4 cases of beer, was t5tty pink and Cream and did not show the puke running down the side. What a party machine.

I had a 1973 Cuda with a 650 Holley and a 4 speed, used to autocross with it. I never dragged it or drove it to top speed, I chickened out at 125 mph because the front end was trying to come off of the road.

A friend of mine still has his 1070 AAR Cuda with the 340 6 pack. That thing was and still is unbelievable. It won a Solo II National Championship 3 years ago.

i did not own it, but a friend did. 1969 Dodge Charger with a 425 hemi. cranked out 425 hp. man, that car would fly if it had wings. also another buddy had a 1967 corvette with a 427 F.I. engine and 4 speed tranny. ahh, the good ol' days. could'nt afford to fill them up back in the '70's and sure can't now. all i ever had was a 1956 chevy nomad with a 327 and 4 sp. tranny. went fast enough for me.

I still have one of these GTX's today. 4 speed with the Dana 60 rear. Back in the day, I had a 406 Ford Galaxie, and later, a '69 Mustang Mach 1. 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed.

1955 Bel Aire Chevy 2 dr hardtop. 283 bored .060 wiith 11:1 pistons, Z28 cam 4 spd 4.11 gears, holley 750. I still have it. 1971 Dodge Demon 340 4 spd, 1970 Chevelle SS 396, 1964 Plymouth highway patrol car 383.

'65 Pontiac Bonneville, 389 cid engine with a big 4bbl carb and the numerically low ratio rear end for economy. It would get an honest 25 mpg if you kept your foot light on the pedal. If you pushed it, it would fly. I had it to 105 in 2nd gear with more left in it. I never did open it up in 3rd, as the speedometer couldn't keep up.

I had a 69' GTO back in the early 80s when I was in the Navy. Ram air 400, turbo 400 trans with 2500 stall. 4.10 posi rear. She'd run in the low 12s. I got a 69' mustang fastback in the garage right now undergoing rustoration. Got a 351W and C-4 trans ready to go in, once it's done. Jack

1978 Datsun Pickup with a staged two barrel holley and an eagle header. Beat a Bronco, a 70 Nova with a 400, and tied a chevy pickup with a built 350 one night. It surprised even me. Also had a 76 chevy 3/4 ton with a high performance 454 out of a 73 gmc it would bring the speedometer up to 10 the second trip around with a stock rack in the back, would have gone more but the front end started getting squirrely. Was going to drag race it one night but all my tools flew out the back coming off the line. Lee

When I was 20, dad let me buy a brand new 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, he had to co-sign for it and was very reluctant about doing it. So I bought it, it had the 383 cu. in. engine, rated at 335 hp, and Hurst 4 speed manual tranny. The only option it had on it was power steering. I paid $3200 for it. It was black with white seats and red dash, kinda goofy color combination. But over the years I have kept it and it still runs very strong. I did overhaul the engine back in '87 and I get it out every year for old time sake. Still have all the paper work for it. Took it on our honeymoon in '68, and still married after 40 years too.

I was lucky enough to own most of the big names in the big three, but Mopars were my favorite hands down. Did real good street racing a '68 4-spd. GTX with 4.36? gears. Also had a '71 440 6-BBL. 4-spd. RoadRunner, it was a little heavy to get off the line in a hurry but it was DYNAMITE on the open road.

When I was 16 I owned an Alfa Romoe 4 door sedan. It looked like a slow family car but the speedo read 200MPH and the engine red lined at 7000RPM. In 5th gear at 3500 RPM it was running around 160 MPH and it still had a lot more to go before you hit top speed but I didn't have the guts to go faster. I also at one time had a motorcycle that would go faster then 145MPH but at 145 the front end started to shake so I slowed it down
Hobby farm

I've got two 1981 diesel Chevettes. They easily cruise at 75 MPH and get close to 50 MPG doing it. It does take awhile though, to get up to speed.

Man, you are bringing back some old memories. Had a 1972 Ranchero with a 351C, never had it on the track, but it would get with the program. Did a lot of street racing with that one, did not get beat very much. After flogging and destroying the tranny in that one, bought a new 1976 Ford F150 pickup truck, had a 390 engine in it. Had it a year, changed cam, 4:11 gears in the Ford 9", put headers on it, bigger carb, ran mid 12s on the strip, only got beat once on the street. Guy had a built 454 in a Chevy short bed, he ate my lunch, but he had $2500.00 in his engine, I had less than $500.00. Wish I still had either one. But I now have a 2000 F250 with a PSD, got a K&N air filter, Super Chips tuner, 4" turbo back exhaust, it gets with it also. I like to get from point A to point B in decent time. Also had a 1976 KZ400 Kawasaki, 2 stroke 3 cylinder, would bury the speedo, over 140MPH. Now that was scarry quick. Lucky I am not dead.
Jim

When I was a teenager, taking a Chevy 265 and making a 283 out of it was a big deal.

Many of those older horsepower figures though, are a bit skewed. Feds forced the automakers to change the rating system around 1973.

You mention the small-block Ford in place of a four-banger. I had several that were factory made. Firt was a Ford Falcon Sprint. A 63 with a 260 V8 and a 64 with a 289. I then move on to cars designed by Carol Shelby. British Sunbeam Alpines - remade into Sunbeam Tigers and sold in the U.S. I had many (wrecked many). Wish I had one now. 1964 model has a Ford 260 V8, Ford top-loader four-speed, Jeep posi rear-end, a factory-installed traction bars. Next year had a 289. I had several with 351-M engines.
I'm no a Ford fan, but those Tigers were a lot of fun.

I still miss my 65 GTO - 389 tri-power. Never had another car with the same low-end torque.

I still have my 65 Chevelle SS with a 327. It's a nice runner, but not like a big-block. It does handle a lot better though than many of the big-blocks.

Mine was a '59 GMC 1/2 ton. It was my first vehicle and I still have it today. Started life as a 6 cyl / 3 speed. I eventually swapped in a 300 hp 327 and later had various other engines during my bracket racing days. Now it has a 383 stroker and TH 400 automatic. I need to drag it out of the barn and open it up this weekend...

my wife had one of those when we were dating had alot of fun playing in the mud and getting into other things in that car. It was her first car and in great shape not fast but it was reliable.

right now im swappin the blown up 4.3 outa my 1990 chevy pickup and puting a 350 and 5 speed in it. next year im guna put a 383 stroker and 4 speed in my 83 chevy

I would guess that I am one of the younger guys on this board at just under 30, but my first car was a plain jane '68 Camaro with a 210 horsepower 327, backed up by a powerglide 2-speed auto tranny. Great straight body and at the time it was painfully original (manual drum brakes to boot). It wasn't that fast at the time, but it felt a lot faster then the Dodge Aries and the Caravan that I learned to drive in!

When I turned 15, my dad said that he would go in 50/50 with me on the purchase of whatever car I wanted. I knew nothing about cars at the time, except that I wanted something different than what everyone else had. So, I kept my eye in the antiques and classics section of the local newspaper classifieds. A few months (just before the muscle car prices started to skyrocket) and $4,000 bucks later, I had the car.

After paying a few mechanics' bills, I decided that I needed to learn how to fix it myself. So, I did. Over the years, I've done a complete rebuild of the car, taking apart every nut and bolt and putting it back together. It now has a hot 355 small block, backed by a TH350 trans and a 3.73 posi rear. It has four wheel disk brakes, slightly updated suspension and a minimalist (reminiscent of vintage trans-am) interior that I stitched up myself.

I love old cars and now am learning about old tracators!

1966 Mercury Cyclone GT. Hi-perf 390. You could get to 120 in nothing flat but it took a mile and a half to get it stopped. Serious brake fade. LOL

A friend back in the day had a '70 Mach I with a 351 Cleveland and a 4-speed...not only was it quick, but if you were over 4'9" tall you didn't want to be the guy in the back seat when he started grabbin' gears...not good on the back glass either, I suppose.

That was kinda the golden age...musclecars were everywhere, and in the early '70's most of 'em were a couple of years old and were affordable to a working teenager...if you could afford the insurance. Back then, we all talked about how we'd never be able to afford a Corvette, because it cost a dollar a day to insure one! In '78 when I worked at the auto auction, I saw Silver Anniversary and Pace Car 'Vettes going through the sale for a bit above their $13,000 sticker price. Today, that'll barely buy you a Kia with a/c.

Hey there;
I'm 76, and I remember buying a brand new 55
Nash Ambassador w/big "continental" hanging
out back.It had a big V8, don't remember the
CID. One time had it up to 130, and still climbing. BUT my wife said "you better slow
this thing down or I'm gonna beat little
knobs all over your head", I had our little
baby in the back seat. Bought a 72 (?))Dodge
Road Runner" with a blown tranny for my son
in the "Marines". When I had changed the tranny
took it out for a "test run". That thing scared the crap outta me, but my son loved it.
Bob
God Bless

Back in 66 my buddy had a red gto convertable. Was a monster of a car trouble was he always had two police cars following him.

'68 Chevy C10 with a factory high compression 350 and a 4 barrel carb,4 spd tranny and 3.72 posi. Also had a corvette power steering setup. Was'nt fast on the take off but once you were rolling man what a ride!Could bury the speedo at 110 with plenty left over.

1968 blue Mustang GT fastback with 4 bbl 302HP, 4 sp, 9" 3:50 gears. Quick little car! It had the same suspension as the 390 engine GT, so I bought a 427 410 hp that came out of a 64 Galaxy and bored it .030, installed it and put in 3:00 gears. Don´t know how fast it would go. Over 130, it just got scary. The 427 with mechanical lifters would redline around 7000 rpm and rear tires didn´t last long!
Sold it to my brother in 1980, he restored it back with original 302 and it is parked in a storage shed in Colorado springs while he is in Iraq working on helicopters. He sold the 427 for a good bit of money. I´ve tried to buy the car back, but he wants a Barrett Jackson kind of price.

had a 1969 Dodge Charger with 440 in it, used car salesman told my Dad and me when I bought it in 1975 that we wouldnt believe the gas mileage it would get. He was right , even with cheap gas I worked all the time to keep it full, I swear I could see the gas guage moving when the 4 bbl kicked in. It was registered for 160 and I had it to 130, dash lights went out then and dont know if it went faster or not. Sold it same year because I knew if I kept it would be killed in it cause I loved to hear it wind. Sold to lady that liked the pretty blue paint job on motor I rattle caned on, her younger brother totaled it 2 months later, was in hospital for a month. Cant believe what those are worth now:(

I'm a MOPAR guy 69 GTX 440 auto 3:90 gears not much could touch it in street raceing and if you kept your foot out of it it would get 17 mpg.And I still have a 69GTX.

Still have it, bought it new, nearly the cause of a divorce twice until I had to have an understanding with wife about who did I have first her or the car, still have both. It was the car by 6 months. 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 429 CJ (370 hp) Auto 3.21 rear end, 140 on speedo and been there a couple of times. Am in the process of finishing a 4 yr rebuild project now around 425 hp. Have a photo of me, car and Richard Petty about two years ago. Obviously my pride and joy. Always did regret getting rid of the 71 Gmc PU with the 396 though.

(quoted from post at 05:52:44 10/24/08) Anybody ever own a fast car when they were young?

The fastest car I had was a factory stock 1968 Plymouth Fury III,I bought it while I was still in high school,it had a 440ci engine and a factory Hurst 4spd,that thing would peg the speedometer at the drop of a hat.Sold it when gas got crazy back in the 70's.I also had a '68 Chevelle with a 396 in it,I got that from my cousin in the late 70's,I was the second owner,I could kick myself for ever getting rid of that one.I also had a '70 GTO with a 400 in it and a '63 Impala that a friend of mine put a 389 Pontiac engine in it.I bought a Z28 Camaro when they came out with the, then new body style in '82 also.I'm sure that I'm probably missing a couple.

Being from the 80s my first car was a 76 Buick Regal, not exactly fast. But beat walking and it was free.

I built this a few years ago, from the chassis all the way up. Nice little 468 Chevy, 6-71 blower, pro fogger nitrous. Just took the nitrous and the blower off, thinking of two smaller turbos. Weighs an even 2300 lbs.

At full throttle it was just a little over the top, especially without a rollcage. W/O the blower, its actually easy to drive, not having to white knuckle it all the time.

This my best car 350K on it drove it for more than 20 years and enjoyed every minute.

1968 Sabb Sonett V-4 91 CID top speed 130 MPH With high performance package 150 MPH I have half of that package on it now. Can't get the rest to bad.

Car after it was wrecked at 0 MPH almost totaled.

I still have it and the Lady in the picture. Lifetime Warranty on engine and running gear.

First car I had was a '72 Mercury Cougar XR7, bought it from my sister for $500. 351-4V Cleveland, auto trans, 2.75 rear gear.

I have no idea how fast this car was my gonads was not big enough. It would only turn 1500rpm running 60mph down the highway. Was not much in the 1/4 mile with the gear it had but would just keep winding on top end. It wasn't breathing hard at 120.

Chris, I had a 83 S-10 shortbed with a range from a 350 to a 427ci small block. Had it for 9 years! 20 miles per gallon and fast!! Dad and I restored a 62 chevy Impala SS 409, 4 speed, dual quads, it was nice! A collector wanted it more than we did. Had a 70 chevelle with a 454 in it for about 20 minutes,,,, now I got a 1969 Ford Maverick with a Roller cammed 5.0 (302) One of the first 50,000 off the assembly line when first put into production. fast little car till it hits about 80, shimmies then settles back down at 95. Had that for 18 years now. Chad

2001 Audi A4, in the winter I put a set of snow tires on it, and with the 4 wheel drive it is amazing in snow, I've always had big 4 wheel drive trucks, but this if far better in snow as long as it's not real deep. It does 130mph, and gets 34mpg if you follow the speed limit.

1962 Chyrsler 300H. 400 HP/500Ft/lb. Not much could keep up with her but the brakes weren't so good. Just too much car for the brakes. And too much power for the uni-body--she got so loose the doors wouldn't open on a lift.
Back in that day the noise from the engine wasn't the exhaust it was the intake.

Had a '68 Vette coupe, 327-375 horse..ran out good , didn't like to idle for long periods..Got pretty warm at the bank auto teller..Painted it white lacquer , applied a "Metalflake " brand "Flip Flop" blue pearl then cleared it.. Man was that one pretty 'Vette..At night under street lights the leading edges of the fenders "glowed" light purple..I had to sell it...I was told I acquired that "Corvette attitude"..Bought a WM-300 Power Wagon after that..I guess there is no Power Wagon attitude..

1970 GTO with bored out 455 and 4.11 in the rear. Almost pulled the front tires of the ground. Sold that and rebuilt a 1964 GTO 389 with trips 4 on the floor and a reverberater radio, (am stereo). Sold that and bought a house. No more fun.

31 ford 3 window 425 HP buick with 4-71 SC & two 4 Bl Carbs . 57 Chev Factory 270 HP . 64 GTO Conv 365 HP 4 SPD 4.11 gear .

My first car I got when I was 13 was a 56 Ford 2 door post with a 6 cylinder motor.I blew up the 6 and put a 352 police intercepter motor in when I was 16.It had a round speedometer with a peg down in there past 120 at about where 140 would be if it went that high,I had it bouncing off of that peg.I had a 63 Ford Galaxie with a solid lifter 390 police intercepter motor and trans. It shifted the last shift in the 4 or 5 speed cast iron case automatic at 110.Only had 120 on the speedometer but the needle went way down into the dash, maybe 160,probably never wound it all the way out,but I had it way fast and airborne.64 Impala SS with a 4 bolt main 350 4 speed,64 Chevelle SS 4 speed, also had solid lifter cam and would really fly, beat a 69 440 Charger 2 out of 3 races,67 Mustang 302.Dont have any of them now.I do have a hot rod 302 motor and a hot rod 460 motor to put in something if I ever get to again.

Had quite a few strong cars- Liked the Fords and Mopars. My two '70 Mach 1's ran good. I still have my '69 R/T convertible, and my favorite car, a '65 Belvedere post that I'm building a 572 Hemi for. '68 Dart 440 ran 10.60's. Fastest car was a tube frame '84 Daytona with a 353" mopar- ran 1/4 at 9.20 145mph. Also still have my '93 Mustang Cobra with 7000 miles. I just bought a new Charger Hemi- real impressed so far, but said I would never own a four-door. Guess I got old...

Lots of MOPAR fan here. I love my factory hot rod. 2003 Dakota regular cab R/T. For a small truck it moves. Last 5.9L 360 ma MOPAR produced. Hard to keep tires on it for some reason.

Ok, get ready to laugh at this one.

1977 VW Beetle (ok, take a deep breath) took the 1600cc dual port out of it, had the case machined to accept a MOFOCO 2165cc kit with the 050 heads. MOFOCO cam, dual Dellorto carbs, Jacobs ignition, lots of chrome and polished aluminum. VW Bus trans. Was a peppy little s**t box until the unibody started to fall apart, then put the motor in a dune buggy and sold it.

After that was a 1991 Ford Mustang with a blown 4 banger that I traded a Suzuki LT250R quadracer for. Put a used built injected 302 - bored and stroked to 347, stand alone computer - laptop controlled, 22lb/hr injectors, ported and polished trick flow heads matched intake, cold air induction, ceramic coated headers/wrapped, dual 3 inch exhaust with flowmasters, msd ignition with a tremec 6 speed and 4.56 geared 8.8 rear. Lowered it 2in, put on 16" wheels, painted it Mopar Opal Signal Green and put on a cowl induction hood 2". Tinted all the windows black, added some aftermarket buckets seats in the front. Then college came and it got sold.

77 Nova changed to 400 and forget what trans, would spin 31 inch slicks all day long. 65 Chrysler would wind 110 in second gear. 95 Mustang GT shows 150 speedo. Never pushed it that far. I am 65 and scared to do it.
