Ford 850 with Wagner Loader

I broke a fan belt and am having trouble finding a way to get the new belt around the crankshaft pulley on my Ford 850. I have a wagner loader, an adapter assembly is attached to the crankshaft pulley then a drive shaft attaches the adapter assy to the pump which exits the tractor outside the bottom of the grill. If can not get the drive shaft to pull free from the adapter. On the drawing from the Wagner website looks like the drive shaft screws into the adapter, mine has spline so it does not look like it would unscrew. I am green regarding tractor repair and any help would be very much appreciated.

Take out the bolts that mount the pump to the pump bracket, and remove the bolts that secure the pump driveshaft flange to the pulley.. Gently pry the pump outward and slip the belt between the flange and pulley...Make sure you tighten the bolts ..They make a mess of the pulley if left loose...

BTDT many times on my ford 841 with loader. Unbolt the hyd pump and it should then pull back and if your lucky the hoses will have enough slack in them to pull the drive shaft out of the hub. Then you can just and I do mean just get the belt down past the drive hub and after you do that its pretty easy. Getting the belt past the hub is or can be hard to do because theres almost not enough room to do so

Why not install a link belt? You can put these on without taking the pump off. Kinda pricey, but if you weigh in the convenience factor, may be a good deal for you. They are very rugged as well.

One place to get them is Grainger:

Yeah, I had faced the same problem and I actually cut off one of the bent metal plates/straps from the loader frame, figuring I would weld it back on at some later time, if this one ever gets some kind of a restoration etc., not the end of the world, but seemed like there was just no other way after looking it over carefully.

This gave me enough room to unbolt and slide that pump out and away, making room to get the belt on, do believe I tried everything and never figured out how that coupling comes apart, nor could I get the pump to move enough without cutting that strap off the frame, which was a last resort, I hate doing things like that, be interested to hear how yours goes, have an 850 and a wagner too. Must have missed something if you can change the belt and not cut that strap off to give the pump some room.

Thanks for all the replies. Just to respond to the tips (I tried all of them), 1) there was not enough room to put the belt between the crankshaft pulley and the adapter assembly 2) I was able to get enough clearence to pull the shaft after separating the shaft at the Flexible Coupling Assemble and moving the pump out of the way. Even with the necessary clearence I was unable to get the shaft to release from the adapter assembly attached the the crankshaft pulley.

Rather then spend additional time on it I got a link belt from Grainger and installed it which was recommended in a couple of the replies.

Again thanks for the help could not beleive the response.
