I have a 1941 Farmall B that has a vacuum system on it. How was this hooked up and what was it used for?

It's not a vacuum system.
It uses exhaust pressure to push a piston in a cylinder to lift implements. It requires a valve on the exhaust to divert it to the system. Parts for these are hard to come by.
If you go to the Farmall board of this site and ask for Gene Bender, he can help you with it. He is very knowledgable about those systems.

There were also vacuum lift systems. If it is a vacuum system ther would be a port in the intake manifold.

We had a valve on the manifold of our 2n ford that provided enough vaccum to run our milker system and we could milk one cow at at time. we used it when the power was out and in the fifties it was frequent.

The only vacuum system the tractor has is the pipe plug above the carb that was used for operating a milking machine. The lift system is a pressure system using exhaust gas.
