Follow-up- vacuum-engaged 4WD front hubs

Manual-hub-kits arriving in the morning at NAPA.

$200 for the pair.

The more I hear from others, the more I'm happy with the decision.

"Vacuum-engaged" (*spit*) no more.

If it's not too late, you can save about 65 bucks ordering them through amazon.com. Thinking about doing the same thing myself before mine leaves me stuck somewhere.

Only shows one, but if you scroll down to the product description, it says "set".

I don't have the luxury of having a walk-in auto parts store (that is affordable), so buy everything over the internet.

Good Luck,

Dave

Thanks.

Good luck to you too.

Appreciate your tip, but I guess I'll stick with NAPA. Something goes wrong, or if I have a question or need a tip, they're only 15 minutes away.

Easier to claim the warranty too. Curious to know how the job goes for you. Think I'll order a set myself (after I here how it went for you).

Still have visions of the fancy horse-girl with the $40,000 pickup and $30,000 horse trailer, stuck in the mud and having to get her pretty little boots dirty getting out of the truck, cussing like a longshoreman all the while. . . I towed her out with my rasty Ford diesel, and to her credit, she tried her best to be sincere in thanking me- but was still so mad it didn't come out as well as she hoped.

What type of truck? The F150's (2003 and newer) default to engage in 4x4 mode if they loose vacuum or a hose comes off so you're not stuck. not sure about GM's or Dodge trucks.
