O.T. Skunks?

Im having trouble with a skunk in my tractor shed, it has a dirt floor and he keeps digging a hole right under my H. I have tried putting rocks in the hole but he keeps digging them out.He wont go into a live trap and he wont eat the cat food i put out soaked in antifreeze. I just dont know what to do. It makes it hard for me to work on my tractors because i dont want to have to take a bath in tomato juice! Thanks for th help!

spread moth balls around in the shed he wont come around any more.i had them coming in my yard and digging up the grubs spread moth balls around havent seen them since

i did that too, didn't bother the skunks but i haven't seen a moth since....

I tried that but it doesnt seem to bother him, i tried a sulfur smoke bomb in the hole hoping to kill him but it didnt. Thanks for the reply!

You either need bigger rocks or a bag of cement in that hole. If you go the cement way just hope hes in his hole when you fill it in and that will stop him forever

Try the blue fly bait that you can buy from your local coop and place in a saucer with coke or pepsi. Bubble gum unwrapped will work on ground hogs; don't know about skunks.

Saw Old timer once take a large V-8 can of juice used opener all around except left about 1" to -3/4"
still attached put some bacon down the bottom of can. skunks head went in, didn't come out stuck, lid was holding it on. Then it was easy to find it and be gone with.

Get a can of lewis lye and pour it in the hole. When he gets it on his feet, it will start to burn. Then they lick it off and head out to find water. They won't come back to the hole if it still smells like lye.

1 quart bleach + 2 cups ammonia. Wear rubber gloves. Pour the bleach in the hole, then the ammonia. Cover the hole with cardboard to contain fumes. Then you must LEAVE immediately. Bleach + ammonia is very bad stuff. It will fry your nasal passages and lungs. It also gets hot when mixed. Skunk will leave or it will kill it.

Had a long term problem with one under the garden shed, bought a trap and second day he was in it, had a broken back but still time to spray. It cleared out in a fdew days and no more problem. Have to be careful of pets with most of the permanet solutions.

Ok, I know this worked for me. Used transistor radio set to any ol station that will come in clear, doesn't seem to matter what. Rock n Roll to classical, Skunks don't seem to like the constant noise. Doesn't have to be real loud, they just go elsewhere.

Something we've found that works pretty well - cayenne pepper spread were ever an unwanted animal is digging. We used it to stop our dog from digging up plants in the garden and to get rid of rabbits and coons. Whenever an animal digs it first sniffs the ground and since their nose is very sensitive the pepper burns the crap out of it. I even put it in a barn swallow's nest when they kept rebuilding it in the same spot. They abandoned it when it after the pepper burned their butt.

You will catch him if you use marshmallows for bait; put a few outside the trap as freebies. I'm at about 10 for the year now in a live trap. Once he's inside the trap cover it with a tarp and take skunk, trap and tarp to an open field. Open the trap and let the skunk out.
There are many options at this point. The skunks I catch don't come back. No, not one has offered to spray while in the trap or when I release them. About half do spray when they get the lead poisoning.

We had dozens of skunks around the petfood plant I work at. All sorts of plans were tried and the skunks persisted. Then one day everybody caught on to the idea I proposed several times, clean the place up and conduct business like the dairy plant I came from instead of acting like a feed mill. Amazing!! once we came to AIB standards it's very rare that an animal (aside from some of the guys I work with) can be found. Even rodents are handled with extreme contempt.

Conibear Killer trap. Make sure there are no friendly cats or dogs in the area. Set the killer trap so his head comes up through the opening.

They are night creatures, like to come out as the sun's setting. Can't just an evening or two sit out there an hour or so with a beer or two to make it worth your time, and when he comes out, shoot him? I've done it a time or two. It works. Shove his carcus into the den, bury it.

I remember once had just broken my hand, it was sore and swelling. Sun was just going down, I wasn't happy, and out came a skunk. I grabbed a lever action Henry that couldn't hold with the broken hand, couldn't load with the broken hand, couldn't ratchet the lever with the broken hand, and shot half a$$ed with my left hand like a revolver, and missed. That skunk saw me and came charging at me. I had a rifle that couldn't hold to ratchet again and a charging skunk. I ran to the left, it ran to the left. I cut back to the right, it cut back to the right. That was one angry skunk. I ended up runnin and flippin over a fence and ran all the way to the house. I never saw a skunk do that before. I know can get vicious if corned, but this guy wasn't corned. He had the whole field, yard, woods, and the world, but he came after me. I figure he must've been rabid.

I hate to be the lone voice on this but I have found when you have skunks you have rats
Clear up the place and put out rat poison..Rats should be gone in three weeks. Skunk will leave a couple of days later
