need a worm gearbox

Today Dad was gonna unload the old Meyers forage wagon ('76 model) and the gear box for the apron split right open and the input shaft came out. We're thinking about just junking it as it needs new wood for the sides as well, but it would be nice to fix it.

Anyone have an old meyers around? I'll have to right down the casting #'s on it, as I'm sure Meyers wasn't the only ones to use that particular worm gear. It's a Durst box so there should be a few around.

Might try Googling Durst. Maybe McMaster-Carr would have something that would work. Their catalog is on the internet.

(I think-may be wrong)Durst was in rockford and
has been bought out---but-- you sure see lots of
old forage box's in dealer back lots.

I know that they're out there, it's just finding one. I'm gonna take it apart this week and see how bad it's split and I may try to weld it yet. Might be able to get away with it, might not.

It certainly isn't worth finding a new gearbox- the wagon just isn't worth it. If I can't weld it and we can't find a ued box, it's getting stripped to the stringers and turned into a flat rack.
