Can anyone recomend a hearing aid? My wife is realy having a hearing problem, altho her hearing has not been tested. It's obvious she has a hearing loss. The problem is we have been out quite a bit of money on eye problems(both of us).Every thing we hear about them is they are very expensive,Does any of you know of a brand that works good and is not so high dollar,or a company we could contact.thanks

Ken, I really know where you are coming from. In 2004 due to working around loud equipment, I lost 40% of hearing in both ears. Today I am on my 3rd set of hearing aids and they are not cheap. Thank the lord for worker comp ins or I would stillo be asking everyone to repeat. They are a lot of trouble and I say that with tongue in cheek. I have special phones(house and cell) that are hearing aid compatible due to feedback (squealing). Ear infections are almost constant and I never hear as well as I should. They DO NOT give you 100% hearing. However with all that is wrong, I can hear better now than before. Hearing will only get worse with time. I wish that I could paint a rosy picture but I believe in telling it like it is. I wish your wife all the best and pray that you can/will be a very understanding husband just like my very lovely wife has been during my times of saying "huh","what" and "sorry I didnt hear you". I can still see, smell, taste and feel and I am very grateful for it. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WIFE

Thanks for your coments,it helps to know others have their problem also and understand ours. We will be leaving Sunday morning for oklahoma city,to see eye surgeon who operated on her left eye to try to save her vision, and is trying to solve the problem with right eye.600 mile round trip, but our son and family live near thereand are very helpful.

Hey Ken,
Sorry to hear of your family's health challenges... you'll be in our prayers. Although hearing aids can be problematic and are expensive, they're essential. My dad started suffering hearing loss about 20 years ago... bought a hearing aid and refused to wear it. A few years later, Ma talked him into buying a better one and he refused to wear that one. Now, he's all but deaf and is suffering alzheimers/dementia. We've talked to doctors (and rely on our personal experience) and have come to the realization that dad's not being able to hear has accelerated his condition. Specifically, not being able to hear, dad was less and less inclined to try to take part in conversations. He'd just sit in his chair and stare at the tv (although he couldn't hear it). With his lack of hearing, he has basically isolated himself into his own little world and is no longer in touch with reality. Most days, he doesn't even recognize me... sometimes doesn't recognize ma. Sorry for the long dissertation, but I can't stress enough, the importance of keeping everyone in the family healthy. Hope someone else doesn't have to experience the things we've gone through the last couple years. Sorry I can't recommend a specific brand of hearing aid, but it's extremely important that you find one! All the best... HTH! ...D

She may be ignoring me but she is still dolng the driving, including the trip today to see My eye doctor at Lubbock. And doing a good job of it .....

I hav been using Siemans hearing aids for 30 yrs. Have had others but the electronics in the siemans have been exceptional. It helps to have a good health insurance plan. lots of luck using your new aid. dont be afraid to go back to have them adjusted to your needs and satisfaction.
