battery maintainers

Is it recommended to hook more than one battery per maintainer ?
Anyone done it ? and how many did you hook up ?

Or will this just goof up the maintainer so it doesn't charge them right or worse yet burn it up ?

I've been charging two 6v batteries simultaneously on my console 3020 with a single 12v Deltran Battery Tender for about 6 months. Seems to be working well. Before I hooked it up, though, I replaced both batteries with new ones so they're both at the same charge capacity. Not sure how it would work if one battery was weaker than the other.

My tractors were parked in dec and strarted with no trouble in March.I did monthly hydrometer checks on the batteries.A lightning strike on power lines can make chargers and maintainers catch fire.Lightning is active all year long.
