Tractor identification

I purchased a Ferguson and was told it was a T 30. I finally got the paint off the tag and it does not state a 30 but the serial number was 25754. Is this a 30 or is it a 20? I would like to know in case I have to order parts in the future. Is there another way to tell?

Owen,
Look on the left side of the engine down toward the bottom and there should be a casting number of Z129 if its a 30 and Z120 if its a 20. Also, the oil filter is on the right side of the engine on a 30 and in the pan on a 20. Also the air breather intake is on the dash on a 30 in case the engine has been changed and give you the wrong number.

Thanks for the info. The oil filter is on the right side external and the air intake is also on the right side just in front of the dash. I sill look for the block numbers. They did tell me the engine was redone about 5 years ago. It runs fine but I think the air cleaner needs some real cleaning I have some light popping on low idle and it does not adjust out with the carb. If it has the 30 engine were there any other major differences??

I believe the 30 has bigger valves and a bigger bore...25 hp for the 20 and 30 for the 30. Someone might correct me on that. The light popping in the exhaust might be a little fast in engine timing. If it has been converted to 12 volt, set the gap on the plugs to at least .030 and it will help with that.
I know that sounds like balderdash but my 80 year old uncle told me that and I went home and tried it on mine and there was a marked inprovement. He's done a bunch of conversions and rebuilds alternators he gets out of the junk yard for a few bucks, and pretty much knows his stuff.
Welcome the the Fergy guys, by the way. There's some very knowledgeable fellers on here more than happy to help. You might also check in the archives for anything you can think of on Fergys cuz I think its been discussed on here at least once!!! LOL

Thanks so much. Always listen to the older guys. I have learned so much over the years. I had a hydraulic business for several years and was also an a aerospace mechanic. When I was in business I was friends with an older fellow who rebuilt older tractors in this area. I always listened and helped him with more modern answers. I am grateful. Sad to say he is now gone and took a lot of knowledge with him.

I should have said the air cleaner INTAKE comes THROUGH the dash on a 30 and has a cover over it.
The air cleaners set in front of the dash on the right side on both models.

The air cleaner does not come through the dash but it does tell me what the empty hole was probable for. This one is in front of the dash is round and has a course screen or hardware cloth on the top with a wing nut to remove and an oil bath bottom.
