I found a 35 Ferguson....

I sold a 9N Ford that burned oil but was a great tractor. I recently sold some property and no longer needed the 9N but my buddy did.

I since ran across a 35 Ferguson with a bucket. The guy who has it doesn't think it runs. It is still a 6 volt tractor but I can easily convert it. He only wants $300 bucks. It appears that parts are readily available.

Is there any reason not to buy this model. It looks almost identical to my 9N. Looking for advice. Jeff

Well, let me think. The 35 has live PTO and Hydraulics, overhead valves, position and draft controls, hi/low transmission. Probably some other things the 9N didn"t. Maybe someone else will jump in.
The predecessors to the Z134 Continental engine were prone to cracking if overheated; I don"t think yours had that problem, assuming it"s a gas engine. I have a 35 with a 4 cylinder diesel which doesn"t like to start when it"s cold. It need a shot of ether to kick off. Apparantely pretty common with the Standard 23 engine. Not a problem with the later Perkins 3 cyl. models.
I think you"re going to like it. It still has that "cute" factor the N series Fords had too. :)

Super deal those are alot better then the fords.

I think it should allready be 12 volt if it is a model 35 ? maybe it is a to30 ? There is one model that used an engine that you can't get parts for te30 I think ?

Thanks for the help. I didn't have a chance to look it over much. The gentelman who owned didn't seem to know a lot about the tractor either. I wondered if I would be getting into something that was way over my head. Jeff K.

Yes, there is a reason not to buy it. it is strictly against the rules to buy a tractor when you just sold one because you didn't need it .Just ask your wife.

We must be inlaws............ Small world.

The parts value ( break up)is higher than what you are paying here.No brainer from the way I would look at it.

I own a 1955 Ferguson 35. Its a great tractor. The early 35"s did have 6 volt system. But not all had the live PTO / hydraulics. Press on the clutch, if it has 2 "stages" that you can feel as you press down, it has live power. Either way, a great deal at $300.
