o/t keeping a windshield clean

Sorry to post here but I thought you guys might have the answer. I have cleaned my windshield with windex and soft scrub, but don't have a clear view especially in the rain. When the windshield wipers pass over, I get distortion on the glass. I will try changing the blades as well.

Any suggestions?

Yes, clean the rubber part of the wiper with some alcohol, then apply a dose of "Rainaway", let it dry to a haze, wipe clean with a soft cloth and hose off...the water will bead up and flow off the winshield when you are driving. "Rainaway" also coats the surface of the glass and any miniscule pits in the windshield, actually making the surface "as new". I use it all the time, like it and recommend it. My 28 year old Dodge winshield comes up like new when I apply it and your visibility improves big time. We used alcohol to clean wiper blade at the shop I worked in, does a good job of removing the film that builds up on them.

Use sratch pad -the finer the better-on the edge of your windshield wiper. This removes the very small bug parts that are stuck to the rubber which makes the wiper do a better job of removing the water without streaking. Grab the wiper and pinch the end between scratch pad and 2 fingers and pull multiple times, having the pad damp helps it slide on the rubber.

A product I highly recomend to clean glass, white vinegar and water, using old newspaper. I also like using Rainex. It sheds quite a bit of water without having to use wipers. As has been mentioned clean wiper blades.

Really fine steel wool or an SOS pad on the wipers when you wash the vehicle will help wipers that aren't totally lost yet.

White vinegar mixed with warm water will work great to remove bugs and film from glass.

I have a similar rain problem on a 2000 Saturn...
The wipers clear the water, but the outer layer of glass has always had a spotty residue, not visible in daylight but obscuring/reflecting at night.
I use a professional liquid glass cleaner, and with the cleaner on go over the glass fairly lightly with a kitchen scrubber that"s supposed to be safe on glass (so far no scratches).
But the spotty residue slowly comes back, so I have to repeat every three weeks or so. One of these days I"ll check the Saturn forum to see if a factory problem (some kind of coating on the glass?).

Try to find some Turtle Wax Glass Cleaner it is thr best I have ever used. It have take a couple of times ,but when it starts raining spray it on the windshield after it gets the blades clean it will not streak. I get mine at the Bumper to Bumper D C I work at I always carry some in my work truck.

get a bottle of rain ex and wipe it on the windshield ,but it does not really start to work good until 45 but the wipers should keep up for the slower speeds .
