Hello! Hope to get someone's advice on this. Have opportunity to buy a 1942 Allis-Chalmers for $750, but don't know didley about tractors (except that I need one). Metal is good- a little rust at bottom of gas tank; haven't driven it personally- it runs, but won't charge; needs seals; tires are "tolerable". I know it's difficult to say without actually seeing it, but can anyone give me their opinion as to whether it's worth the asking price, and about what it will take to keep it up? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Jaeger6

Hi old! Thanks for your quick reply! The model number is located by the gear shift on the transmission housing(?) and seems to have been cast in the metal, as opposed to being on any kind of plate attached to the tractor. The number is: B57277. Thanks again

That would make is a B small little tractor at around 22HP. Should have a wish bone wide front end. If it runs well and does not smoke badly $750 isn't a bad price for it. I've payed $450 for a C with a locked up engine but it did also come with a sickle mower and had good rear tires but weather checked. You can go to my web site to see what my C looks like plus a lot of my other tractors
