Deere carburetor

I have a Deere 4000 gas that has carb problems. It has been rebuilt with little improvement. Now the solenoid seem to be shot, won"t maintain adjustment and the wire is bare causing sparks. Question is, do I get a new solenoid for $165, or a new carb for $600? I have heard that the new carbs are a big improvement over the originals. The original is a Zenith.

Actually... The best carb is a Zenith. The marvel USX series are absolute junk.. those were original. Keep the Zenith and do away with the solenoid Spring.

If already have the Zenith get a solenoid or manual adjustment needle instead, kit and new float. If originally had MS USX can be fixed by those with much experience but even then it may still give lots more problems and many times not worth it. Even JD supplied the Zenith for replacement before those tractors were ever old for a reason the USX was a bad design for a tractor. Zenith bought out MS later too.
