I've posted some tractors for sale & have had 1 call & no buyers. I don't think they a priced too high for what they are. Anyone else selling anything??

imho we are facing a 2 yr downturn in a best case scenario and up to 10 in a worst case one.

just my opinion though.
Do not try this at home.

Around election time , starting of school, and a fuel price that is crazy. most people are just holding on to the money they have, or allready spent it on school. I am not sure what part of the country your in but, around Texas where I am, the Texas state fair is usually a economy killer around here. like you, I posted a tractor and all implements at a great price, and got one call, but ended up selling it to a young man down the road who needed a first tractor in his life. GOOD LUCK on selling your tractor

I sold a JD 420U 2 weeks ago from a local ad and a JD 430W this week that I had setting in the front yard by the road. I bought a JD 430U 3 weeks ago. My son has a JD 730 LP for sale that he is getting a lot of calls on. I would say it is not bad here but then they are all green so that might make a difference..

Went to a sale three weeks ago in the pouring rain. A straight JD G, styled, in its work clothes went for 6900.00. A nice restored basic Farmall BN single front wheel went for only 1,000. a nice straight Farmall 200 with wf and fast hitch went only 1,700. I should bought that one but like many I'm a little short lately.

not much around here is selling in So. Il. went to a couple local sales and things are selling cheap. like a running need restored GN for $1900 and 3 Farmall H's @ 700 each. like others said 1st of the year might be differnt.

Not much of anything. I almost bought a 1961 cub lowboy, running, with mower and blade for 850. The guy had 2 for sale. Both running, 850 each. I was gonna buy at least one, but I passed, I just have more projects than money at this point. We talked to a friend of ours who manages a vitamen store. She is under pressure because sales are falling off very quickly. I think we are in for a couple of rough years.

I rarely sell anything - but I'll say this. Here in central New York and also in central to northern Michigan - I've been watching just about every classified there is for over a year. Mostly for utility sized ag tractors and also for small crawlers and wheel loader backhoes. Craig's List Ebay, local papers. etc. I havent't found any bargains - and whenever something comes up even reasonably priced - it's gone the first day. I was finding much better bargains just a few years ago.

Same with the big equipment auctions here locally.

Ebay sales are off 60% according to industry news. They were offering free listings to increase bussiness.

Not the time now to be buying anything hold your cash there will be some very cheap things for sale this Winter as the economy slows down and the cost of heating stays high.

I suspect that is partly due to them being so money hungry, giving lousy customer support, and pricing themselves out of the market with ever increasing fees. Much of what I've seen for sale on Ebay over the years is overpriced crap anyway. In regard to the good stuff, I don't see anything selling cheap. I bid on many types of equipment - but refuse to bid on anything higher than I'd pay if it was sitting in someone's front yard locally with a "for sale" sign on it.

I've followed Ebay very closely since it started. At the incipient level, it had many good deals. Then, more and more bozos got involved trying to get ridiculous prices for things - and often suceeded. Now, seems many buyers are becoming more aware of the true value of things and not getting mezmerized by Ebay's so-called "auctions."

That being said, I've gotten some pretty good deals lately on the German Ebay. But, there's not a awful lot I need that comes from Germany. I did, however, just get a bunch of new Stihl chainsaw parts that cannot be bought here in the USA. Also bought a full set of the original TV show Bonanza, in chronilogical order from 1959 and with original soundtrack - that - for some strange reason - cannot be bought in the USA.
It was pretty weird to hear Hoss speak in German - and also a few Indians - until I found the "English" button.
That, in turn, led me to buy a univeral DVD player that plays any region, and any format.

Ebay owns a large interest in Craigslist - so I wonder when they are going to ruin that too.

I kinda was thinking some good buys would pop up with all the jobs being lost and whatnot ? but so far there are very few things up for sale. Newspaper is bare.

well I just bought the 50 acres that bordered me to the south. Going price. neighbor put his little farm house up for sale and it sold for his asking price in about a week.

We are not technically in a recession yet. If we go their, then just choose not to participate. It is all a ploy by the mainstream media. They love it when things are bad. F- um/

I sell on ebay and I am sick of them! Every week its a new reduced fee listing scam. Now its offer free shipping and get a reduction in fees. Now, the sales reports that they give to their sellers are all screwed up. I still havent gotten my sales report for August and its almost Oct. When you contact customer support all they can tell you is "The engineers are working on it" Well I would hope so! If I were ever two months late on something at work I would have to have a better excuse than that!

Been in tractor (NEW) for 28 years , So far ever year it gets better. So far this year we are 1/2 million ahead of last year. !)) H>P and up larger tractors are hard to get sales are so good. Only problem is everything in middle tennessee is still going pretty strong. Just havent felt the slow dow as bad here as some other parts of the contry.

Neighbor had a farm sale (he's got glaucoma and other problems) and everything sold pretty well. Anything I was interested in went higher than I was willing to pay. I was prepared to go $500 for a recent sickle bar mower, bidding started there and sold for $1700. MF135 and Oliver 440 went higher than I expected, don't remember how much. Not sure if the bee hives sold.

One of the factors contributing to that is the fact that Ebay will no longer allow sellers to accept personal checks starting the 20th of October. I don't see what ground they have for this but its really only going to hurt Ebay. I won't be buying on there anymore because 98% of my purchases are paid by personal check. I try to pay cash for about anything (except on-line dealing) because I'm afraid someday cash will not be an accepted form of payment. Seems like the whole country runs on "credit" cards. Credit in my opinion should depend on whether you can come out in the black ink at the end of the month. Anyway, it will have a big impact as about 40% of my collection is from Ebay but its going too far when they tell the sellers what payment methods they are to accept. I'll be supporting the local shows, auctions & dealerships who aren't so strict on payment methods.
