Current gas prices

Just curious, what is the lowest you've seen recently in your area? It was down to 3.65 here today. Compared to 4.09 just two weeks ago. Amazing how that works. Maybe it will be down to 3.00 by Thanksgiving. No major holidays until then, if you count that one.

Pretty strange, dropping some here too I understand. I have not been out much in the last week. Not sure what it is now, will find out tomorrow.

but I saw on the net that stations in TN and NC wer out of gas and limiting purchases ?

Got gas here today at $3.249. But from what I here theirs places that have almost no gas and lines just to get gas. I think that this maybe caused by people trying to scam use and cause problems and if so that will not help all the bank buy outs etc.

It has been $3.25 at the Flying J this week here in Southeast SD. A guy told me he saw $3.19 at Sam's Club yesturday. Diesel has been slowly going back up. It was $3.72 right after the hurricane but is up to $3.81 now that my tank is empty.

$3.599 here in the northeast at least where the Williams oil cartel holds sway. Funny thing is many of the fuel distributors are 'upside down' on their fuel prices. Many bought thousands of gallons while the price was up and are stuck with it in their tanks. Oil prices dropped and they are having a tough time breaking even since the guy down the street bought it a little cheaper and is selling a little cheaper and everyone is jumping on the conservation bandwagon. Somehow I don't feel bad for the guys that bought $147 a barrel oil as a hedge.

I was at Shell the other day and their tanker truck pulled up to deliver gas. I asked the driver what the deal was with the fuel shortage in TN. I'm in Ky two hours from TN, he said he didn't know, he brings our fuel from TN.
A lot of stuff going on were the publics being played.

no matter your price be thankfull u have access to gas. we are still short in upstate SC. 4 of 5 stations have no gas. THANK GOD for my HYBRID

I saw gas at a station on Friday for $3.519----Now I hope that these Greedy 8astards can keep the price stable at this price or less for years.
Nah, the slightist hickup in the gulf of Mexico will shoot the prices up to $4.25/gallon.

Yesterday the lowest price I found in Cedar Falls, Iowa was $3.199 all the rest of the stations in town were around $3.329. It has been a while since I could fill my Jeep Grand Cherokee for around $60.00. Still hoping to see $1.999 or less by Christmas. Need to get it down as far as possible so when they start jacking it up next spring there is farther to go to hit $5.00 per gallon.

It worked. They have us conditioned to think $3.39 gas is cheap.

I wont be happy until the Arabs are starving and begging us for wheat and soybeans because we dont need their gas, and they can't eat sand!!!!

The 'Flying J' truck stop is showing $3.16 on the web site this morning. I drove by the local 'Fast Trip'(Conoco) yesterday afternoon it was $3.16.

YA know, if people would quit lineing up at the stations, and go 2 miles up the road, theyd find plenty of gas. They may a few cents more for it, but theyd get it, and would have to wait in those big long lines! Thank God for my diesel!!!!

Fuel prices are falling and will continue to do so. Pressure on the Democratically controlled congress has finally made them let the restriction on offshore drilling sunset. Drilling is already starting up all over the country, and more is coming soon. And rather than taking 10 years for that oil to come to market, the oil companies are saying we could begin seeing some of it within just a few months, as little as two.

Now the thing we all need to pay attention to is who will be in control of congress after the elections. If the nnalert retain control, many say the will then reenact that restriction on offshore drilling. That they have only removed it for now so that they can do well in the elections.

I am not a partisian. If the nnalert were on the side of developing our demostic oil supplies I would vote for them. But they are not.

Here in Indiana, we have some of the highest gas prices in the country, some stations still up at $3.99, others as low as $3.59. That makes no sense to me, but apparently we get a lot of our fuel from the Gulf Coast refineries.

New oil fields in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky are being developed, as I heared on the radio on a trip south last week. And just yesterday they say they've found oil under the airport in Terre Haute, and are going to try to get the city to let them drill there. With all this development occurring all over the country, prices will continue to fall. And then OPEC will have to increase production to lower prices to try to stop us from further development, again resulting in even lower prices. Perhaps we will get down to $2.00 again, about where it should be when factoring in normal inflation. Boy, won't that feel good.

$3.37 here in eastern Nebraska.

I get a lot of windshield time as an Insurance Inspector. It's interesting to see how many high dollar SUV's and oversized pickups are sitting in front yards with "For Sale" sign on them.

Have people learned their lesson? Probably not. With gasoline prices coming down, they'll go back to their old habits.

$3.35 here in NW AZ right on the Colorado River. It was as high as $3.99 in late July when we got back from summer at the farm in ND.

Highest we paid on our trip back was $4.09...

Should be able to fill up for $3.19 with our discount points at the grocery store this weekend.

Here in MN it is $3.37, lowest it has been in a long time, but it keeps going up and down constantly. We drove into Wal Wart a few nights ago and saw their gas price was $3.39 per gallon, so Dad said maybe it will go down more so we can fill up the van (30 gallon tank! : ), but when we drove out of Wal Mart, the price went to $3.42! We were not there long and the prices just change up or down all the time. We usually buy the gas at Holiday.

Actually I believe these sky high prices will leave a lasting impression on most people. I think the public will think twice before going into debt $50-60K for some overgrown SUV again. A lot of people got stung with paying huge payments on a big vehicle they could not afford to drive to work. With everything that has happened I think people are getting a good lesson in economics weither they wanted it or not. I think this impression aught to stay another 30yrs afterwards. If the whole financial crisis and high gas prices were shorter term, then I would say you'd be right.

Yup.

Just like the fuel "shortage" back in the 1970's. Had a friend of the family who ran a gas station on a lease from what was then Standard Oil...Standard had a meeting of their regional dealers and lessees and told them, "Boys, we have xxx gallons of fuel to sell...and if you can't raise your sales figures to meet your quota, we'll get somebody else into that station who CAN sell it!!!"

As long as the oil companies can get the price they want--whether the station owners make money or not--that's all that matters. If they have to create spot-shortages to increase demand [at the higher price, of course], they will. There never was a real shortage in the '70's, and there isn't one today. My mom's uncle ran a Shell Oil distributorship from the late 1940's thru the late 1980's, and he could get all the gasoline he wanted in the '70's...but sometimes it didn't come from Shell, who had distributors on "allocation" for awhile. But the independent refiners had supplies they sold to allocation-short distributors...which is why Unk's tanker truck sometimes was out on the road with paper taped over the Shell emblem on the door.

The oil companies were playing games in the '70's, same as today. As long as the price is right, there's plenty of product. And the price only goes down when storage facilities are getting full, from people cutting back. World oil prices affect pump prices more when the world price is rising, not when it's falling.

IR, I think you're educated pass your intelligence.
So if there's such a variation in fuel prices, obviously the only thing it has to do with is gouging.
When The Demo party released the off shore drilling, a barrel of oil was less than $100, do you understand the concept, being played.
"New oil fields in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky are being developed" What does this have to do with off shore drilling. It has been brought up in the news and by certain congress people, "Why aren't the oil companies developing the oil already found on the continental US?"
People on this board have said good wells are capped in their back yards, so who were they saving this oil for?
Good luck on fuel prices coming down, oil went to below the $100 a barrel and our fuel prices went down $.20, before the hurricane.

I didn't understand the first sentence. Did you mean "past"? If so, I'm a high school drop-out. I am also not at all well to do, but I don't blame anyone else for that.

And as far as the sunsetting of the drilling ban, that only happened this week, far too soon to see any results yet, although the former head of Shell Oil said in an interview this week that we will see more production in months, not years. This is not the same as what they, (nnalert), did a few weeks ago. This has to do with the ban that's been in effect for decades, and has no boundaries on it of "over 50 miles out", as the they put it in that bill that will never become law.

The Indiana/Kentucky thing was just an example of why I think prices will continue to fall, as there is more and more development going on all across the country now. Over the last year I've seen many, many more wells pumping in Kansas that haven't been for many years. They are slow producing wells, a barrel or less a day, that in the past weren't worth the cost of operating, but now are. They will probably be shut down again if oil drops substantially.

This has all been meant as good news. I'm not a professional oil person nor economist, and I don't know everything. I'm just passing along what I hear and observe.

You know, I don't like arguing these points with you. You're full of negativity, gloom and doom, and I'm not going to engage in anymore of this. I enjoy discussing issues, not trying to put people down and prove a point. I don't believe that there are endless conspiracies keeping us all down, that no matter what the little man can't make it anymore, or any of the ideas you put forth. I still believe this is a great country and I don't like hearing you, and Trucker40, calling everyone in DC crooks, all corporations evil, and anyone with a net worth of over a million dollars greedy, because it's just not true.

You can live in your pessimistic world if that's what you want, I'll go on believing in the American Dream, in blissful ignorance I guess.

Some of those higher ones might have social health care wrapped up in them. Tried to look that up with out luck.
