Red Or Green Gear Lube?

I need a little 85w90 gear oil for tractor. Both local farm stores carry Mystic JT-7, so I bought a 2 gal jug and when I opened it, it's RED. The oil I used before was green and thick, This stuff is red and seems to be alot thinner, more like 5w30. Can the 2 oils be mixed together? Did I get a jug that was labeled wrong, or is this thin runny stuff really gear lube? Thanks, Chris

Gear lube in the summer seems a lot different in the winter.

I have done that before myself. Then after thinking a bit I realize that the temperature is a lot different then the last time I worked with the gear lube.

Gear lube should have that sharp gear lube smell. If it doesn't I would return it. Red and runny sounds more like ATF.

I have always used their "Hi Temp Disc Brake"
Wheel Bearing Grease. it was in a 1 pound can,
and was RED. Just bought a new can, and it was
brown, like old cheap grease gun grease. I used
it to repack bearings on an old trailer, used
to haul wood on the farm. But i'd be afraid to
use it on a 60 mph road trailer. It didn't
look rght, and bothered me.
I thought it was a brand of CITGO?? Citgo is the
Argentine oil monoply, and is argentine oil,
somewhat better than giving my money to the Arabs.

I think its alright to mix them,I have in a big truck and didnt have any trouble. You would be better off to ask the people that make it though. Its probably better to have either all red or all green, but the red is supposed to be better,so if it will mix it should be alright.

Citgo is Venezuela's national oil company confiscated by commi dictater Hugo Chavez. Much worse than arab oil.
