$70,000 JD 4255 and loader

Hello Everyone,
I have been meaning to post this. Auction last week at Winner, SD had the highest prices I've ever heard of on a few items. JD 4255 , just 4000 hours, with a mounted JD 280 loader brought $70,000. 6620 combine with no heads brought $27,000 and a JD 4230 open station brought just $12,000........must be lots of money out there.

Lots of money? Naw, sounds more like fools to me. Bidding $70,000 for a tractor that is as old as a 4255 is just plain foolish. Buy a lot newer if your going to spend that kind of money.
 
Brother just bought a 4450 MFWD with a new 740 loader on it last year for around $40,000. I think it has around 7000 hours on it.

There must have been at least two people in desparate need for that stuff!
 
Yes, high enough. But I have noticed over the years that there's a lot of bargain hunters around (some possibly on this forum). What I often wonder is: When their sale day comes will they see the other side of the equation?
