Hauling a JD unstyled B

Ok here it goes. I have an unstyled JD B to haul. I have a 40 Trailbalzer with towing package rated to 11000#. The trailer I have is a 3500# load rated single axle roll back. The trailer is 121" L x 85" W. The tractor on rubber is 2700# and is 117" long x 73" wide. I think I can make the trip going slow and taking my time. It is all 4 lane smooth going so the raod will be ok. I have 6 votes for goand get it and 1 for don"t...(not my wife cause she wants to keep the $) Any opinions?

Go spend 20 bucks for a Uhaul trailer. Bring some planks with you to put down the center. Likely going to be rough getting a single axle to balance especially being overweight. Will probably sway like crazy.

its not worth the risk, yet on a 4 lane.you dont want to be responsible if something should go wrong.in the country you could get away with it,but i wouldnt haul it like that.

The B would be too heavy for a single 3500# axle trailer. The tractor weight alone would equal or exceed the axle rating and you still have the trailer weight to figure the gross weight. We hauled a B up to Michigan back in 2003 and it also had a fairly wide wheel spread. The photo above shows it on our gooseneck in Kentucky.

Plus I know here in Iowa the DOT would love to stop and check you out. I don't know what the DOT is like in your area, but up here we make sure everything is covered from the way she's loaded & tied down to the fact the truck is liscenced for the correct tonnage. Get stopped by the DOT and that tractor could get a lot more expensive.

** FYI in Iowa a general liscence will cover 3 tons, so I had to up mine to 7 tons to cover my truck, trailer & either one of my A's. Not sure how they liscence in your area, but be sure you are covered.

just find another trailer you don't want to even load that trailer with dirt that heavy or even go get another axle for it and then you should be fin another 3500lb. axle added under there will make it a 7000 lb trailer then add a couple feet to it later and you will have all the trailer you need. If you are equiped to do such work.

Thanks for the tons of advice. I rented a u-haul 6x12 for $29 and saved alot of lives. i enjoyed seeing my wife and kids when i got back. Take care all..this community saved some people today.
