This is a 20.5 HP Opposed B/S Twin Cyl Engine anyone have Knowledge as to how to Adj the Transmission Shift linkage,(If this is the correct terminology) it doesn't shift into gear easily,going from Reverse to First gear, Tractor never Abused.. just normal wear, I'd like to know how to go about this. Thanks alot! Larry KF4LKU
 
I think if you Google "Craftsman" you should be able to get to a site with diagrams. Or maybe Google "MTD"? have your model and serial numbers handy. David.............

Is it a 6-speed (one lever on fender) transmission or a 3 speed with hi/lo (shifter between legs)

If it's a 6-speed with fender shifter, there probably is a threaded rod adjustment on the shift linkage on the left hand side of the transmission by the large drive pulley. Using a couple of wrenches loosen the jam nuts and either shorten or length the rod.

My lawn tractor had trouble coming out of reverse gear, linkage was too short for the shift gate. I lengthened it and problem went away.
