Cant get my Case clutch to lock back. Clutch is tight and pulls with n o slipping. Done all that I can do to it, Need it to make hay with it

Remove plate with 4 bolts on eighter side-turn engine till you see a pin in outer edge of ring (ABOUT 3/8 in diameter)Pin will be in notch that you see on outer edge ow ring on flywheel. Tham push it in an turn ring to next hole an continue to turn till clutch will click when engaged. Since it must be real loose you will have to go couple clicks. You need to check lever after each click as i forgot direction you need to go. If you go wrong way leaver will push easier.

Thanks for posting. I have done all u suggest to no avail. I have it tight enough now that it takes major strength to pull it back. It does NOT lock, or click or do anything when pulled back. It will click when pushed forward again. All haveing it as tight as I do avhieves, is that it takes a higher RPM to knock it back out when engaged.

What year dc if dc? All dcs i drove you push forward to engage an they should stay ingaged than click when pulled back or released.

CA, the early DC's as well as the CC's had a Twin Disc type clutch with the same lock pin style as the later over center PTO clutches. It had three fingers, no links, just a cone that when pulled back rode the fingers up itself and pushed a pressure plate The 39 we have originally had a pull back to engage clutch. the adjusting pin on those style clutches was between the fingers and was pulled out to release the hub to turn it to adjust it. It sounds to me as if he has it to tight as the fingers ride up a cone and snap in a slight hollow at the top of the cone to lock it. Also it is a bit odd as the lined plate is bolted to the flywheel and the "pressure plate" hangs on the trans mainshaft. I'd back it way off until it was loose and then bring it back up to find where it snaps over center. mEl

Ill try that, but ive had it as loose as a goose, and it acts the same, just that it will trip off at a lower rpm speed. Ive never gone from notch to notch and check it tho, and if that is what your suggesting, on my CC, Ill try it.
