OT, but related. Ya happy with your corn this year?

I planted Renk 488RR 87 day. I have to say it held up quite well for a mild drought. 8-9" long ears avg with full tip fill. Not as girthy as I had hoped, about 13-14 rows of kernels. Is drying down very fast, loose husks.

Neighbor planted Johnsons 8766RR. His cobs are about 9-9.5" long and are more girthy than mine, very nice cobs and a much taller plant, but doesn't seem to be drying down as well.I do see that in his drier areas the stalks did not produce a cob and his corn did not hold up near as well as mine. I have a nice cob on every stalk.
Any input on your corn? I would love to hear from others with non irrigated sandy lands. I am shopping for seed for next year and would love some testimonials

Our immediate area is gonna do pretty well. Typical average on our farm is 135 bpa. Probably gonna do 140-160 bpa. Anywhich direction too far and it gets kinda poor. Side note, all ears of corn have an even number of rows.

Yea,for the most part. Pastures and hay were junk because of dry weather, but the corn looks excellent. All Fielders Choice. I'm chopping some corn like I've never seen before. I've never had to run that 2-135 White in first gear before with a 2 row chopper, but I am in that stuff. Trouble is,the ears are dropping off. The ones that are still erect are OK,but as they tip,the ground is littered with them. I would imagine it's deer knocking some of them off,but they should be holding on better than that. What's gonna happen with some wind?

Seems like about 90% of the time, the number of rows will be divisible by 4 (usually, either 12 or 16), but rarely, you get 14 rows.

Always an even number of rows.

Good corn down here, but I have wet damp clay so I'm no help to you. :) We had 2 weeks that were dry, the rest of summer seemed pretty wet to me, hard to do hay again. Even my one sand hill has nice looking corn on it.
