Timber Jack 380A Transmission PTO problem

I have a customer with a timberjack 380a he said the upper drive shaft that powers the winch quit turning. I need as much info as possible on how this is assembled in the tranny. Thanks for your time.

I believe that will have the 28000 series Clark trans. 3 or mabye 4 speed powershift, alot of TJ's were 4 speed.

The pto shaft is gear driven off the main input shaft so if the engine is running and the torque converter is full of oil the pto shaft should be turning.

If the trans. still works and pulls you can rule out a charge pressure problem, I have on rare occasion saw the pto shaft break. It can be replaced in the skidder as long as you can get the front broken piece out. The ones I have saw break have done it at the back and I was able to remove the broken piece.

The pto driveshaft comes out then take the pto yoke off then remove the brake cover (springs, pins and discs all kind of nasties in there) the shaft is just a slip fit in the rear bearing of the brake cover and taps out easily once you start pulling cover back, if the shaft is broken at the back likely the cover will fall off with the piece of shaft still in it. The shaft is probably 2 feet long and it just splines up into a gear in the front of trans. e-mail is open if you need more

Thank you very much for your time on this matter. I found your reply informative and should be all I need. Again thank you for your time, I try to do the same when I can.
