combining corn.

Run some development prop and yesterday the developer said he needs to destroy some corn to place a pile of dirt. I estimate corn is at least 60% moist. Any way I can get that through the combine? I been told it will just gum up and I will have a heck of a mess.

How 'bout silage?Do you have livestock?

Way too wet for a combine.Plus what would ya do with that wet of corn, wouldn't keep long.

Brad's idea is right on. It would bridge in the grain tank something terrible if it even makes it that far. Jim

Nearest cattle farmer is about 10 miles and we're only talking about an acre and a half so I guess i will let it be destroyed.

If you are farming for a developer, what does the legal paper say will happen and does it allow him to demand work areas?

A local developer just paid a farmer to mow down 200 acres of corn so he could start building.

Doesn"t say where you are from but our corn is in the mid 20"s right now. We have thought about cutting some high moisture corn for the ethanol plants. You should check and make sure where moisture is at

i would deffinantly not let it go to waste , i'll bet your input cost was close to 200/per acre??? right ! not including your rent, 10miles is not aful far for free feed plus would be a cleaner job, no mess next spring if u work this land again ,offer to cattle farmer id be surprised if he dont take it

Any corn above 30 percent will have extreme drying cost. 35 percent is corn flakes,- no real value. That and above, going through a combine, is mush= no value. Recover your costs and potential income.
