Generator wires

I had me generator worked on (turned armature, new bearings). There are two wires on the generator that I am not sure if I got them back on correctly. Does this matter? My gauge goes not register anything (did not before) so I don't think it works. This is on a MF 35 gas.

It matters. The large wire should go from the larger post to (labeled A or ARM) to the GEN terminal on the regulator. The smaller wire goes from F to FLD on the regulator.

You will need to flash the generator to polarize it so it generates the proper polarity.

They were correct.
The posts on this generator are the same size evem thought the eye connector is a different size on both.
Can you elaborate on flashing the generator?

Flashing temporarily connects past the cutout to put voltage on the generator and the generator field coils to magnetize the field poles so the generator builds in the proper direction. Generally you connect a jumper for a couple seconds from the battery terminal to the ARM post on the generator or the regulator. The regulator will put power on the field. Any other connection is likely to fry the regulator though I think that hazard depends on how the regulator and field are connected and I don't know which connection your tractor has. There generally is a spark so the name "flash."
