Carb problem

I left the tractor out last night and it rained on it... I have had flooding problems (probable stuck float) but after just turning off the fuel petcock i was getting around.

It is sitting with a slight uphill angle. Instead of fuel going up the intake it is pouring out the air inlet. I have tapped with a hammer, checked the plugs (cleaned them and they stay dry), spark (has), and compression (has). Basically it seems that something is blocking the intake and rechanneling fuel out the air horn... So the problem is obviously fuel getting to the cylinders. I want to get it back to the barn, then it will be out of the rain and I can get the carb rebuilt.

Idea's or tricks for a short burn to get her to the barn?

try removing the air cleaner pipe where it connects to the carb, give it a quick shot of ether and see if it pops. if so, very slightly crack the fuel shut off open just to get some gas in the carb then close valve. start the tractor and then open the shut off just enough to get it fuel to run. youo may need to fiddle with the shut off to get the right amount of fuel going thru to move the tractor.

I took the carb off. There is suction at the intake so there would seem to be a blockage in the carb somewhere. Guess it is time to try a rebuild. If it fails then Rusty can probably fix it. I also am going to put a filter between the sediment bowl and carb. Saw some junk in the bowl...

Seems like everytime I pressure wash her something goes wrong.... lol

In line fuel filters cause more trouble then they fix. If you have the screen in the sediment bowl like you should there is no need for an in line filter. Plus most in line filters are made for fuel systems with fuel pumps that put out 7-75 PSI and theres no way a gravity fuel system like on your tractor will put out more then 1/2 psi with a full tank. I charge a case of beer to fix the in line filter problem and I'm past 20 cases so far

lmao

Good info! Ok, scratch that idea...

Now if your dead set on one go to a motorcycle shop and get one made for the biggest big they have and it will work because they work on gravity flow systems say one made for a hardly Davidson can you tell I don't like them I'm a BMW man may self LOL
