Need info about Farmall Cub

I have a late 1940s Farmall Cub my father bought in the '50s, not sure what year it is. The thing about it is that it has a manure bucket which I've never seen on any other antique Cub, so I am not sure whether the bucket is original or not. I'm trying to sell the tractor but don't want to say it's all original if the bucket was a later addition. Can anyone tell me, what year do you think it is and did these tractors originally come with buckets? I've included a link to the picture we have of it. Thanks.

That is a beauty.
(I would keep it unless reality dictates the move. Family treasure is not easy to recapture)

It is well worth the price noted on the post.
The loader may have been installed at the dealer, but was not a factory installed accessory. It may be IH, I do not know for sure.

I would have it cleaned up and repaired as necessary, and keep it on the farm/stables it is very cute. JimN

if you look to the left under research and info under serial numbers you can look up your tractor and find the year. as far as the loader, it could have been something the dealer put on when the tractor was sold originally, but as far as from the factory, probably not. your serial number tag should be behind the engine on the bell housing.

I would go to www.cub.com and ask this question or TM tractor parts. TM tractor parts is cubs only and they have photos of all the attachments that were offered.

I think it is www.tm.com or if you go to the cub.com web site you can get to TM thru there.

Selling it is an unfortunate necessity--not only do we need the money but also we need the space, and no one here has the time to put into it. Our sons are little (1 and 3) and it would be years before they could ever even think about working on it, and between now and then we need the space--we don't want to just leave it out in the weather to rust! It needs to find a home where someone will restore it and keep it out of the elements. Thanks for the info on the bucket, any ideas as to the year, or tips on where we can look to find out what year it is?

That loader bucket setup looks like a Do-All "trip style". There is nothing exotic about them and they tend to sell at auction for about $400-500 tops. You would be money ahead to get the serial number of the tractor and verify its year of manufacture. If you need more details or want to sell. www.FarmallFreak.com

Thanks, I got the year, it's a 1950. Thanks also for the tip on FarmallFreak.com, I am trying to sell it to someone who'll appreciate it as it has been well cared for this past half-century!

Just for giggles, you may not know that the original price on the Cub when they first came out was $545.00 FOB Chicago.

The picture is reversed. Follow the steering shaft down to the front housing. Right behind it, riveted to the housing should be a plate with the SN#. Use that # to determine date.
