Tractor tires

Wow. I just had the tire guy out fixing a flat on my 706. I asked about some 15.5 x 38's for my 400. He said they are about $500 each!!! Yikes.

Any one got a line on any importers of China tires or any other angles to shave a few bucks off tire costs?
I guess I should have gotten those tires a couple years ago when they were $295 each.

heck I may have to go to a auction and buy a tractor just for the tires.

Just be glad you don't have to "shoe" THIS one!

I have a 400 needing tires too. TireTown seems to have the best price but who knows.
Gotta say that maybe the freight prices will start making American products in general more 'affordable' to by in the long run. After fuel prices go down maybe it will help our economy.

Kelly, my fater in law just bought a pair of foreign made tires from a dealer not far from you, I can not remember the dealer, but they are awesome tires and were about half of what Gottwalds or R&S wanted for a similar tire. I'll let you know the name of the dealer and tire later today.

just put on a pr 18.4 38 2* radials on a nice old 4040. bill was 2350$ and materials cost me 2150$. Plus gas, diesel wear and tear etc.
Glad I don't do that often anymore

Last week I put a set of GoodYear 18.4/38 Dura tourqe bias 8 plys on my 1066. $570 each and they only had 2 left. Next shipment will be over $600. I wanted bias Firestone 23 degrees but they were $780 each.

If he will get you tires for $500.00 ea, installed, you better call your banker and take out a loan :-o and buy them. I can get an Alliance tire, made in India, they sell for $469.30 cash and carry, no tubes, no mount, nothing.

Kelly, Glen's tire in Mora usually has some good prices on new and maybe some decent used ones. Also Larson implement in near Cambridge. Larsons always has piles of used ones. Some look in pretty decent shape.

Not being of the higher class of folks I try to get used tires when available but $500 mounted is sure a lot cheaper than anything around here, of course shipping out west by mule train is expensive.

After farming full time for 36 years, buying used tractors and typically replacing rubber, sometimes twice on any given tractor- three of which now have over 9000 hours apiece- those prices are not surprising. Only one I got by with under a grand was the 3020. One set I bought and replaced myself, including the fluid. Took a little doing and jerry-rigging, but when money was tight, you do what you need to do. Oil and tire prices are related, like so many other things. Just need to roll with the punches. That's farming. illegitimus non-carborundum. Poor Latin translation is: don't let the baxtards wear you down!

Pretty normal unless you are looking at buffed tires.
That is less than half of what a 23.1 x 30 carryout I am looking at is.
