Are you saying that you are paying $2.85 for a gallon of gasoline? (as of 8/29/2008)
I am paying $3.69/gallon in Michigan. and $4.35/gallon for diesel.

No, that is wholesale price at the terminal, before taxes, transportation, and dealer markup.

hay gun guru, what part of Michigan? The fuel price in Marshall is about 30 cents lower than Charlotte and they are about 25 miles apart. Gas in Marshall is under $4

Called yesterday about home heating oil, last week it was 3.49 and now 3.69 so storm already is starting to take it's toll. I live in western PA.

Jt - Actually those prices are national market "refinery" prices. Most terminal prices vary upward from those prices depending primarily on the distance the terminal is from the refinery (pipeline frieght). The prices from jobbers (bulk plants) in a given region vary primarily to the distance (truck frieght) from the terminal to the bulk plant of the jobber. Jobber wholesale consumer prices vary do to variances in delivery costs to its customer base. These extra costs are unique to particular terminals or jobbers. Can be several cents per gallon - in addition to taxes, etc.
