went back to look over the 2 jd b's , had to cut some undergrowth away. really really sad shape, tins shot, rims junk, missing parts ect ect. she wanted 300 for the worst of the 2, 500 for the other. guess somebody else can have a real fixer upper!!!

Good God Man ! The one with the fenders is a model G !!!!!!!! That one may be well worth way more then that if the cyl. head isn't cracked just for the head alone.

I think I got it figured out. The B is bad but the G might be good. Interesting what the JD lettering stands for. LoL Dave

ell he better go back and dig in the bushes some more because there must be a model "J" for junk buried in there.

Boy, Glenn, I might've even passed on those, and it's me we're talking about! That G though...something about those fenders...maybe offer her 300 for the G? Maybe? Possibly? Aw shucks there I go again and it's not even my money! ; )

Thanks for the photos.

Those would be a little more than I could handle.

Sharp eyes from most of us recognized the G probably by the frame.

Way too much money for either tractor; $300-$500 for the pair - maybe.

See any snakes?

ever notice that the trees that grow up around these abandoned tractors always seem to grow through the tractor, not just next to or behind? you always end up cutting them down sometimes with a chunk of the tree still attached the the tractor.

One would have to do some closer inspections to try and determine if any good parts are still good, but just start calling around and price a fylwheel, cyl. head and block for a G

I bet the price still isn't too far off of scrap value to China.

Old tractors in the brush have become almost a thing of the past now. Between the tractor collectors and the junk metal guys, just about all of them have disappeared in the last few years. Those old John Deeres are in pretty rough shape and I am sure you will have more money in them than they are worth, however, I think all the easy restores are about gone now atleast from my area. I think I would just forget the B unless you really don't care about money and want a project. The G would be my choice and those are factory fenders on it. The rust holes in the hood can be patched with Bondo and smoothed to the point that once the tractor is repainted nobody but you will know. What I am most concerned about is how many years water had ran down into the motor before the pipe disappeared for the exhaust stack? you might have a busted block.

Worse case scenario is the tractor cannot be saved and with scrap prices where they are at, you could recover money by just hauling it to the scrapyard without even going through the hassle of removing any parts for Ebay.

If you do end up going with that tractor, my first reccomendation would be to get a torch set because you are going to need them to get all those badly rusted bolts out, and be prepared for many of them to snap off. No doubt about it, either one of those tractors is going to be a huge project and will cost way more than the tractor is worth.
