we will be in ill over the labor day weekend where are the best tractor shows or festivals at being as the wife is coming to

Thresherman's Reunion in Pontiac, IL is hard to beat for an all around show.

I have heard good things about Argyle but never been there. No web site but they have been at it for 32 years.

Those are the main 2 that are in the Farm Collector show directory.
Threshermans Reunion

larry, go to www.threshermensreunion.org Pontiac, IL (an hour south of Chicago, give or take a bit). 60th annual show, second oldest in USA. I've never been there, but I'm told they have lots of steam. Feature - M-M
Colchester, IL has a big show, just couple of steamers, HUNDREDS of tractors (in a state park under pine trees--can you spell S H A D E ??), an acre or two(?) of flea market. This is west central IL about 10-12 miles west of Macomb. Feature - M-M.
60 miles west of Burlington, IOWA is Mt Plesant - HUGE show, LOTS of STEAM, LOTS of TRACTORS, LOTS TO SEE AND DO!! Been there, going again Saturday. www.oldthreshers.com
If you need directions or have any questions, drop me an e-mail.

I live across the road from the Argyle Show at Colchester and will have a JD 60 there. It's only about 7 miles west of Macomb and should be a good show. The flea market always draws a huge crowd.

Larry,
If I were going to just one, go to the Argyle Gas Engine show north Colchester, IL. Lots of tractors, lots of gas engines, lots of flea markets, lots of shade. The actual town of Colchester goes all out, crafts, street rides, kinda an old timey carnival type thing.
If you are going to Colchester and have time, go west on 136, cross the Mississippi river, head north about 40 miles on 218 and go to Mt. Pleasant, IA, it is huge and a very large variation of things to see.
If you are in central IL, go to the Central States reunion, in Pontiac, IL. About 2 miles north off I55, north of Bloomington. Not a real big show, but quite a few steam engines, fair numbers of gas engines, lots of tractors, fair amouunt of flea markets and used parts sellers.
As for crafty type festivals, cannot help ya there.
I will be in Pontiac on Friday and Colchester on Saturday.
