Fuel Tank Leaking

The Oliver 1850 that I bought this spring has always been wet on bottom and side of fuel tank. Then it seemed to be losing quite a bit of diesel fuel, so I took the side panels off, and found that someone had used too long of bolts on the side panels and screwed a hole in the fuel tank. Looking for a cheap fix, Would JB Weld work? Years ago, I had a fuel tank leaking, and used body putty, and it held as long as I had the tractor. Any better fixes out there? Chris

any of them two part putty sticks work. clean up real well DON'T use a grinder one spark and it could be all over. scrape off paint clean up with brake cleaner

I had an 8n that had the tank seaping in two places on the bottom. I wire brushed them clean and used a thin piece of sheet metal on each spot. I attached it with "Seal All" and let it dry over night. The tank still wasn"t leaking when I sold the tractor 15 years later.

They make a special putty fo repairing fuel tanks. Napa should have it. Just clean the spot good and spread it on.
