anybody have one or know anything about them? supposed to be built in canada, we have one at the gravel pit where i work, and it seems to be pretty good quality, but its the only one ive seen, im going to have to come up with some kind of a used unit pretty soon for the farm,i need to move a lot of dirt and while i have a tractor with a loader i dont want to bust the front end off it, and the gates on the pens i need to work in are too narrow for a full size front end loader [ cat 966] so im thinking a skid steere may be the ticket here, cat and bobcat gehl, jd ect, but just wondered about this one

I think the machine you're talking about is a rebadged Thomas. Made in New Brunswick, Canada. Originally a subsidary of McCain foods. They claim to have invented the first hydrostatic skid steer. They needed a nimble machine for handling potatoes. Has different owners now though. I have 94 Thomas. A Thomas isn't a bad machine. There's a few things I'd change but overall they are just as capable as anything else on the market and use for the most part, standard components. Find out if there's dealer support in your area. If there is, they are worth considering. Mine has very good visibility. Dave
