What Tire Size for Plow????

Bought a two bottom plow (IH) and the tires are rotten. The old ones are 6.00 X 16. What modern tire would work on this. Most of the 16 inch tires I have looked up look too large/wide for the rims. Any Ideas??? Thanks!!

Why not get a 6.00-l6? If it is a mechanical lift( I assume it likely is) it should have a traction type tread on the left wheel to ensure the plow lifts promptly when operating in muddy conditions.

You might look for military tire. They are still around and would have the lugs you would need for lifting. Although I use 600-16 rib implement on my 2 bottom lift plow and haven't had any trouble getting it to lift.

I put used motor cycle tires on my Case plows. They seem to work good and were "free". I don't remember the tire size, though.

Thanks to all of you gentlemen. I have done a little more research and found the 6.00 x 16 in both standard tread and military tread. This should serve me well as soon as I can save up the cash. These things are not cheap!! Two tires are going to cost me more than I paid for the plow. Oh Well!! It's only money, and money is only good for keeping score........

Thanks! I have one tractor with somewhat worn front tires. I have thought about buying new tires for the tractor and using the old ones for the plow. I think it just might work.

contacted my old tire supplier they have them for 57.10 each in the traction drives. You will need tubes for them.
