I am trying to find out approximately how many small aquares bales are in one of the large square bales. I believe they are 3x3x8. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,

My neighbor makes large squares and he contends that they weigh about 100 lb/ft of length. So an 800 pound large bale would be 16 50 lb small bales.

Could vary quite a bit given how equipment is set up.

If you want you can so it by cubic feet. A 14"x16"x3' bale has 4.67 cubic feet of hay. A 3x3x8 bale has 72 cubic feet of hay in it so there are about 14.5 3' square bales in a 3x3x8 bale.

When we buy large squares of alfalfa, the 3x3s weigh about 900, give or take 20 pounds. The 3x4s weigh around 1400 pounds. Hope that helps.

We need two things how much does your large bale weigh and how much will the small bale weigh. With out this information its all a guess.
Just divide the large bale's weight by the small bale's weight to get your answer.
