Theres one just down the road, sitting all alone in a retired farmers shed. Talking with him he said it was one of his best tractors. He said he thought if he got $3000 for it he would let it go. Gonna look at it cloer this week.

The 8006 tractor is a very good tractor and a better tractor if has four wheel drive. I used one for over 28 years before I got out of farming. The tractor was alway,s ready to do about what ever you wanted for it,s horsepower and was easy to maintain. When it got sold at auction it had 13,000 hours on it and I only had to rebuild the upper end of the motor at about 10,000 hours. I say go for it.

The neighbour has a 10006 that is a great tractor. Never breaks downs, starts good, lots of gears. Has 9800 hours and runs with a bit of a knock but it has done that for years with no ill effects. It has live pto with decent hydraulics. If the 8006 is anything like it than it is a good tractor especially for the price

Deutz had a very good reputation. Local blacksmith was a dealer but refused to go big-time with a big spendy shop and expensive floor plan, ie- forcing him to accept X units per year. He still gets parts and does repair on them- he sold many in the area. He's about 40 miles from you.

The old Deutz 6005 I used to have was a great tractor, just hard to get parts for here but it was easy to work on and used very little diesel. Way less than the JD I replaced it with.

The Nebraska test is available on line on that tractor. Very impressive reults. Like--84.85 PTO HP & 16.75 Hp/Hr/Gal. Or, 73.74 HP & 17.29 Hp/Hr/Gal. Drawbar results were all 70 + Hp. It has a Deutz 345 cu in 6 cyl air-cooled diesel. According to local AC dealer who sold them at one time, they had two things going against them. One was the air cooled engine which a lot of US farmers didn't like because they needed cleaning quite often and the other was the pea green color. Personally, I think you should buy it.

A wealthy (but kind of frugal) construction contractor from out of the area owns about 100 acres near me- he was talking about seriously getting into cattle several years ago, and did some serious research on tractors- ended up with 2 Deutz tractors. He hays the property, and this year added another tractor to the fleet- a third Deutz. Gotta think he knows what he is doing, and I'd say get that a check to that guy pronto.

I own a 8006.All my other tractors are John Deere but I will never get rid of the deutz. I run it every day on my feed mixer and it will use half as much fuel as a JD.They have very good engines just make sure you keep the fins on the cylinder heads clean and you will never overheat it. The only problem with the 8006 is the brakes are not as good as the deere hydraulic wet brakes but they still work fine.I never have to fix it, just change oil and filters. And it has more gears then I know what to do with.Alot of my friends make fun of that tractor but when the need to borrow a tractor to put on a manure pump they always come get the deutz because the know it will run all week on a tank of fuel.If you are not going to buy it let me know were it is and I will be there tommorow with cash in my hand.
