Curburetor needed

Hi group, I just picked up a Clarkette tow tractor which has a propane carburetor setup on it, but I would prefer to use gasoline. It has a Continental N62 engine, any chance someone has a working or rebuildable carb that I can afford? Continental says it runs $479.00 which is way out of my range.

Thank you,
Allen

Its not mine but here is #350088685942 for E-bay
the Allis G and Massey Harris Pony used that engine and the carbs are like hens teeth to get cheap?

Below is a link to a carburetor reference manual. You might find what carburetors will work on your engine, if it is listed. I think there is also a cross reference at the end of the document.

If you will learn LP fuel systems you would like them. The main advantage is you can let an LP fuel engine set unused and the carb will not varnish up. Engine will also last longer on LP. I have an LP fueled combind I use every yeat and I love it. Yes, fueling can not be done with a 5 gallon rusty bucket but if you will talk to an LP supplier who has MOTOR FUEL experiance they can help you out. With the correct equipment you can refuel from your home heating LP tank if you heat with LP.

True, I could get a wet hose system and refill from home, but I am all electric and therefore have no source to draw from. Besides that, all the hoses on this are rotted, and GOK what condition the gaskets are in the system. The other downside is that I would be using this at vintage airplane events, running out of fuel on a taxiway is frowned upon, and going to town to fuel up every day of an event doesn't sound like fun either. I still think gas is the best option for my use.

Kent,
While propane does have it's advantages, it also has it's disadvantages. I am not running a combine or other farm implement for trade. I am a hobbyist, doing this for fun. The tug does not have a propane tank mount. Someone bolted a piece of plywood to the top of the engine cover. There were a few nails bent over which I believe was the means of holding the tank to the plywood. The greatest problem I have with propane is that, per your suggested equipment list, I would have to buy (or rent) two propane tanks, build a proper bracket for the tank, plus replace all the hoses and have the prpessure regulator and propane carburetor rebuilt.
Any volunteers for financial backing on this?

A gas carb I can rebuild myself, and gas hose is under $1.00 a foot. Sometimes I have a reason for doing things the way that I do.

To all, including Kent, sorry for the tone of this message, but I need/want a gasoline carburetor for a reason, not a whim.

Allen

Message: About the LP system on your Clark tow tractor. I would almost bet it is set-up for fork lift tanks. These tanks have a gauge and if you had a spare running out would be unlikely. One tank with no larger a engine than the little Continental is would last a long day towing planes. What I am trying to say is not to dismiss LP out of hand. Dad was this way when he had the chance to buy two LP fueled combind. This was before I had mine. Since I have had mine for 10 years, he now wishes he had bought them. Hind site is always 20-20. Kent
