Elias Beiler Sale

Anyone attend the Elias Beiler Sale in Lancaster, PA today? Wondered what the spoker D, Chase tractor, and 12-24 Hart Parr sold for.

I don't know about those, but I have a friend who lives outside of Lancaster who knows Mr. Beiler and his family personally, and he's going to scope it out tomorrow.

He DID tell me this. Mr. Beiler had a Columbus hit-and-miss on a big wagon that he would run every year at the Rough and Tumble Threshermen's reunion in Kinzers. It would run the cooling water to a horizontal screen where it would drip down maybe 2+ feet into a wooden barrel, where it would be drawn off to run back through the engine. It was built in the late 1800s, and thus had been running in 3 different centurys!

That baby sold for a cool $83,000!!

I also wanted to know what the IH 10-20 sold for, as well as his Frick steam tractor.



It would also be run every year at R and T, and I happened to have a chance to get a ride.

That was fun!
The steering is done with chains to the front axle, which can be seen in the second pic. Took a good 12+ turns of the steering wheel to crank from hard right to hard left. R&T had some 16-17 of these steam tractors going, and it was fun to watch them wend their way around the grounds. If one of the drivers happened to under-commit during a turn, there then occurred some seriously frantic moments in the cab as the driver would get cranking the wheel! LOL
