So- i'm coming home on 495 beltway in the left hand lane, stop and go traffic. On the left shoulder, I see a 2 1/2 foot machete- fallen off a landscape truck maybe? should I? traffic stops, so I pull over on the shoulder, hit the flashers and jog 20 yards back and pick it up, then jog back to the truck. Traffics moving now, and va state policeman cruises past in middle lane- should have seen the look i got as i jogged back to the truck with a damn sword in my hand!
Pretty nice machete though!

Years ago, my dogs came home with a little kid's backpack.

Already after school bus time, so I threw it in my truck and went to work. On the way home I'm figuring I'll stop by Henry's and ask if it's his granddaughters.

Then I suddenly had this vision flash in my head imagining a police roadblock and a missing girl and how I'd explain this one...

Fortunately, it was just some ordinary canine pilferage from a back porch.

That's dang funny!

Pro'ly looked like the guy on "Grand Theft Auto" (yes I have a teen son)!!

One time the Blue River flooded. Some fellows from the State were out checking flood damage one morning after the water went down. My father found a hatchet one of them had lost. During the course of the morning, Dad ran into the State men elsewhere and told them he'd found their hatchet and had it at the house. They said they would stop back later and pick it up.

While we were eating lunch, a car drove into the yard, and assuming it was the State men Dad ran out of the house and down the sidewalk with the hatchet in his hand. It was actually a kid selling Bibles. He made a fast bee line back to his car.

I was on the other end of sumthin like that. Collecting for newspaper route when I was a teenager, walked up to the screen door & knocked. Lady came rushing at me with a BIG butcher knife in her hand & a mean look on her face. I flew to the far edge of the porch, wondering what I could have possibly done to offend when she grabbed change from beside the door to pay me. She had been concentrating on cooking & forgot the knife! 55 yrs ago but I've never forgotten it.
