Posting question for ya'll

Looks like my post from last night to the guy who thought he knew everything about troubleshooting, and how easy it always was, and then decided name calling was cool must have stirred up more than intended and gotten taken down. That's cool, I'll admit I somewhat flew off the handle myself when I responded back and probably shouldn't have. I have never claimed to know everything, and I can take criticizism with no problems from a peer. That's called learning and in this game it's something anyone that wants to make a living to survive and eat has to do every day just to keep up. Still whether I should have responded back the way I did or not I did because I'll be danged if I'll let someone who knows nothing about me run their mouth and resort to name calling without defending myself..... That said with that post being taken down it left a question hanging for me, and I'll guarantee this post has the same problem when I put it up even though I'm writing it right just to see. The first two replys asked for me to write using paragraphs and I used to do that but the posts always came up strung together anyway so I stopped even typing them out that way. I replied to one of those posts and apologized and tried to do that post using paragraphs just like I'm doing this one. Even typed out with paragraphs that post also came up all strung together. So, the question here is how do you write a post/response and make sure when it posts to the board it's in paragraphs instead of all strung together? Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem... except for the fact i geuss i'm an unedumacated jackleg mecanik and don't no no gooder way...LOL

As per your question...

You have to hit the "enter" key twice to get a one line space.

Or for older people it would be like hitting the return key twice.

Or even older people it would be like hitting the return carriage lever twice.

I'm not that old, only 40, but I've done all three in my life. Basically what your saying is you can't just hit return once like you typically would when typing, you have to do it twice for what would otherwise be called a double space in order to get a single space when it posts.

Here goes, let's see if it works. Can it be as easy a this? If so, it's like they say, "You learn something new everyday".

I have a 1929 model "L" Case tractor. I would like to sell for parts or have the shell restored. It is on steel, radiator, hood, toolbox, original throtle, and seat. Sleeves and pistons are out of the block. Needs complete overhaul gasket set, decowls, floorboards and minor metel work done, Has the newer model engin block with "V" velt. Has Fairbanks-Morris magnito. Give me a call (719) 523-4026

YA ---- I remember that feller --- some one wanted to look at his credentials -- and he got all tongue tied -- and spit out bad name calling --- goes to show --- not a smart feller after all...

Forgot to say I just copied yours and hit enter twice instead of once between paragraphs to start a new paragraph.

I can remember dipping the quill ink pen! First grade in school, a little 2 room school out in farm country, and only 3 miles away from town. Just a farm town, Butler, 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pa. One of the teachers drove a 1917 Model T Ford Touring car. I remember seeing her flying along the dirt road, with the roof a-flappin, and kickin' up a huge dust cloud!
The year was around 1930-31. Years later, after i got out of the army, i found her old T for sale and bought it. That was around 1946-48. Kept it for a while, but ran out of parking room, so down the road it went.

As stated earlier, you just have to hit the enter key twice to start a new paragraph.

The other problem is that your formatting can get fouled up if you preview your post then decide to edit it. This has at least two manifestations:

Paragraph breaks get lost.
Double quotes get converted to single quotes.

There is a simple way to avoid this problem: If you decide to edit your previewed post, just hit the "Back" button on your browser rather than the "Return to Form" button on the preview page.

There is one case where this doesn't work. If you have a reserved handle and you are posting from a machine that doesn't have you handle stored in a cookie, then you have to get past the login screen. This will always foul up your formatting. So you have to reinsert your page breaks and change single quotes back to doubles. But once the cookie is set you can just hit back for subsequent edits.

Wayne, have you tried writing things up on your word processing program, punctuating, spell checking and then moving the content over to the YT Comments box? You have good thoughts we do not want their content getting lost in transit.

(Last evening I posted the above paragraph as a response before, your post and all the other responses where removed.) Finally, I suggest that in the future you leave your email open so that we are able to pass our suggestions to you less publicly.

I have never gotten this set of software to accept single quotes from any of my computers. Thay always come out as doubles. Doesn't matter what I've tried.

As to the rest, sleeping dogs should be left alone, points have been made, move on....

Thanks guys for putting up with me. I couldn't make paragraphs if my life depended on it. Sorry about the double and triple posts. At one point in my life I was typing and composing letters for the CO of Grosse Ile Naval Air Station in Mich. Looks like I lost it all. Could type 60wpm when typewriters had "feel" to them. Long time ago and only for a while. Thrill of technical skills called me away from typing.. Now am retired and hardly know what day it is. Maybe ignorance is bliss. Happy most of the time and appreciate every day God sees fit to let me live. Today I rewired a car to eliminate passkey. Little accomplishment mean a lot. Somebody was happy. Try to make someone happy every day beside yourself.

Hey Wayne, I do not blame you for getting upset at some of those smarta$$es.. Lots of folks out there that just want to throw stones at others..

For all the people out there that have never met any of the parties in the feud that happened over the last few days.. I will tell my point of view. Wayne and his Dad have a well-respected heavy equipment repair business that serves parts of NC and SC. They have a good reputation in the area. Wayne is a straight-up person, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend that needed a machine repaired.

Paul,

I'm not sure I follow you:

"Doesn't matter what I've tried."

I count two single quotes in that sentence (apostrophes, to be precise.)

Sounds like I did stir up a stink...sorry I missed it. I'm not vengeful by nature, I just hate people that think they can name call and criticize with no consequenses to their actions. Basically I just hate stupid people....

> have you tried writing things up on your word
> processing program, punctuating, spell checking

You could just use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. It spell checks for you as you type in a text box.

Another way to create a paragraph break it to is to type the following characters:

the less than ( < ) character
the letter ( p ) character
the greater than character ( > )

<a href="http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/jameslloydhowell/?action=view¤t=Paragraphbreak.jpg" target="_blank">
Paragraphbreak.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket
</a> in sequence wherever you want a blank line to appear.

Click the Preview Message <a href="http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/jameslloydhowell/?action=view¤t=PreviewMessage.jpg" target="_blank">
PreviewMessage.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket
</a> button after typing your post to verify that a paragraph break (blank line) appears.

Click the Return to Form <a href="http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/jameslloydhowell/?action=view¤t=ReturntoForm2.jpg" target="_blank">
ReturntoForm2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket
</a> button to edit your post if necessary.

Hope this helps.
