I have just acquired an International 424. The opertor's manual says to use 93 octane gas. Wondering how others have addressed this issue.

No, back then the octane was rated diffeent then it is now.
It used to be Research Octane Number (RON), now it's a calcuated average (R+M)/2.

It'll run fine on what you find at the pump..

Nope you have to remember back when that tractor was made they had lead in the gas and they figured octane different. Oh Bill by the way is one of your nick names Uncle Willy and are you in Missouri?? If yes then you know me

Octane booster only boostes the profets of the one that makes it . We run a lot of gas power I H tractors over in my neck of the woods and we run the 93 hightest in them and get along fine but running the 87 your asken for trouble . I have fought the fuel problems a long time and seen first hand what all happens . The 87 octane is a fast hot burn and the 93 is a cooler longer burn .. Keeping the ing. timing set to spec.'s is a must running the correct plugs also a must .
