Lots of conflicting info. Looks like the engine has 0-6-H? 251341 R7, tranny? 351686 R3 L3, another cast 0-7-H? 360719 R1, Plate 16649 J
the plate inplies 1962? but the original color was yellow. It has a starter that has a plunger vs key start. What am I looking at? When I try to start it the starter justs kicks in but when removed the starter will spin. Also the coil gets redhot, yet not running?? Help joe

Which battery is used? Six or 12 volts? If it's 12 you probably need a ballast resistor between the ignition switch and coil. Check at one of the plug wires for fire to your plug. The points may need to be cleaned with some 320 wet or dry.

Is the engine stuck? See if the engine can be cranked by hand or put the tranny in the highest gear and rock the tractor by moving one of the rear tires. Should see the fan move if free.
If its free I would have the starter checked it may need a new bendix. Hal

PUT THE TRACTOR IN NEUTRAL AND SEE IF YOU CAN TURN THE FAN. THESE C-60 ENGINES DON'T HAVE A LOT OF COMPRESSION SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN IT IF THE BELT IS TIGHT. IF NOT,ENGINE COULD BE STUCK. ALSO YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THESE ARE 6 VOLT POSITIVE GROUND. THEY WENT TO 12 VOLT IN MID 1964. THE SERIAL NUMBER IS ON THE HOUSING UNDER THE RADIATOR. ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER YOU HAVE IT IS A 1963, AND THEY COME IN YELLOW AND WHITE, I HAD A 1964 THAT WAS.
