Prices of the stuff in photo and classified ads??

I've been looking at most of the prices in these photo and classified ads. I notice to me that just about all the ad are priced alot more than what I try to sell mine for for fast sale! I had a couple tractors that I tried to sell, A running Farmall H for $1000 and most people want me to give it to them or take $500. and there are some worse shape listed in the ad for 1500 that smokes, don't run, trans problem, or needs tires!! I know the econ. tough now, but can somebody fill me in on what they are thinking!!!

You start high too see what people will pay nobody i mean nobody has ever got what they ask for unless they are rare item in demand, a farmall H is not in demand so the guy that has a tractor not running is not getting any money, if you are a good talker like a dealer you could get a few bucks more.

What you have to realize is that these items are "On the Market". Now, you have to separate these from the items that are actually 'For Sale'.
There is a considerable difference. As my Grandpappy used to say: 'Everything is for Sale, it's just the price.'!!!

Well, there's your difference. Fast sell or "buy it if you want to". You never know what someone has in something as far as time, hauling it home, buying it now maybe wanting to sell. Sometimes when the wife says sell something and you want to say "i'm trying" it takes a high price to "keep it". Plus you really need to look at the area where the seller is, in kansas things can go cheap while the same thing may sell for twice as much in iowa. just my thoughts

If you don't like the price someone is asking don't buy but,you have no right to complain. If you keep this up and other mentally ill people also complain then that will just add up to more unnessecary rules. Please stop looking down your nose because you are no better than everyone else. godspeed

a lot of people want a free appraisal of their tractor they never intend on selling they call me a lot wanting to bid on tractors just to see what they are worth

The adds are free to run. If you keep a Farmall H in the paper or on the internet for long enough for $1,800 sooner or later some one will give it or will "talk you" down to $1,500 and feel like they got a good deal. If you want to get rid of it quick or just need the money fast run an add for a reasonable rate or put it in an auction. If you don"t have to get rid of it, put a high price on it and wait for some one who realy wants it.

There are lots of buzzards that are looking to take advantage of others. When I was selling off the machinery at our shop, several people actually expected me to give them machines, since we we did not need them anymore. I wound up selling some of these for up to $20,000 each... Mighty kind of the folks that offered to help me out, by taking them off my hands.

I get a lot of people that stop by, wanting to buy my truck, tractor, etc.. Tell them not for sale, but they say they really want to buy, so I quote them a high price... Then they want to call me a crook, LOL.. I really get tired of parasites..

Amen....

I thought about it after reading your posting twice. Listin the H in the photo ad for $2000 obo and let her go at $1000 If that would my the buyer happy like he screwed me on a tractor for a grand!! I heard a guy here local done that on two cars couldn't sell em for nothing and putt em both away for a month and bought them back out to the road and sold them back to back for 3 time the amount!

I BUY OLD TRACTORS AND RESELL THEM AFTER I CHECK THEM OUT. I MAY FIX A FEW THINGS OR I MAY SELL THEM IN THE CONDITION I BOUGHT THEM. I USE A COPY OF THE TRACTOR BLUE BOOK TO HELP SET MY PRICE, PLUS I WATCH LOCAL ADVERTISING. A FARMALL M THAT WON'T BRING $1000 HERE IN KY., MIGHT BRING $1500 TO $1800 SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WAS TOLD OLD TRACTORS ARE LIKE ANTIQUE CARS, THEY ARE WORTH WHAT EVER SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY.
I PUT AN INFLATED PRICE WHEN I PLACE MY AD TO KIND OF SORT OUT WINDOW SHOPPERS. IF THE BUYER IS INTERESTED AT THE HIGHER PRICE, THINK HOW HAPPY HE IS WHEN HE GETS IT FOR LESS. EVERYBODY IS SATISFIED.
I WAS TOLD THAT PEOPLE ARE BUYING ANTIQUE TRACTORS AS AN INVESTMENT. STOCKS ARE TOO RISHY AND NT WORTH A HOOT,REAL ESTATE IS UNTOUCHABLE,AND ANTIQUE AND MUSCLE CARS ARE ENTIRELY OUT OF REACH. OLD TRACTORS ARE POPULAR BECAUSE THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR A HALFWAY DESCENT PRICE,PARTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE AND THEY ARE BASICALLY PRETTY SIMPLE SO MOST JOES WITH A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE CAN FIX THEM. PLUS IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM YOU CAN'T SOLVE YOU CAN GET ON A WEB SIGHT LIKE THIS AND FIND OUT ANYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BECAUSE CHANCES ARE SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND NO ONE THINKS YOU'RE A DUMMY.

high price at first might work for some folks but doesn't for me ...I don't have the time to haggle with a seller about price...if it's more than I want to pay I don't call ...just wait till another comes around...when I sell I do the same thing the price you see is it....I think some people enjoy trying to talk you down ....by the way am looking for a good Super "H" Farmal...Kent
