Identification of Ford 4000 displacement value

I have a 1963 Ford 4000 gas-driven tractor with selectamatic. It is having engine compression problems. I have the shop manual which says that there are 2 versions of the gas engine, a 134 cubic inch and a 172 cubic inch displacement. How do I find out which one I have?. Stamped above the starter is 41205 and below, with a sidewise diamond in front, is 16929. bottom left side of block is 3A15 cast in and right side lower block is CONN 6015J cast in. Can anyone tell me how to find out which displacement? Thanks! Vernon Reeves

I don't know the numbers as well as some. Your 4000 would come from the factory with the 172.
It is a Select O Speed not a selectamatic -

I don't know whether Ford increased the bore or stroke, or both, for the larger engine. Same bore may mean same head gasket.

All will become apparent when you remove the head.
You can then measure the bore and/or stroke. Your compression issues can then be addressed.

Until the head is removed for inspection the remedial work required cannot fully be assessed anyway.
