Groundhogs and Tractors

Groundhogs have burrowed under the pole barn where I keep my tractors. I am concerned that the concrete floor will crack and drop my tractors into the holes. But actually anyone have a good way to backfill the burrows under the concrete floor?
Thanks
Rich

You might try looking for companies that specialize in raising sunken concrete. To get rid of the groundhogs, I'm told if you shoot one with a .22 and he goes back in his hole to die, any others will clear out.

I don't know of a good way to thoroughly back fill a woodchuck hole. I do know I have discouraged others from taking up residence by jaming wadded up haybale wire down into the hole then filling it the best I can.

if they tunneled it out pretty bad, you may need to have some one come out and mudjack the foundation. they can pump concrete in the holes to re-inforce the void. best way i found to get rid of the groundhogs is to use the bridger traps. set them over the hole and stake the trap down. the bridger 160 or bridger 200 are good size for this. if you have domestic animals around, yu may want to temporary fence around the trap to keep them from the trap. here is a link to get the bridger traps.

Groundhogs and tractors do not mix. I don't think they can hurt your tractors (or barn) as much as those that dig out in the hayfields. I have dropped the front wheel of my tractors into so many of their crater like front doors that I could never count the times. When it happens it always gives me a little relief to yell out " you @#$% %$#@ @#$% son of a @#$#%. Then I can hear the low life ground scum that they are just laying down there in the cool comfort of their den while I am out in the 90degree hot sun just laughting at me. Oh how I hate those sorry bastards.

I flood them out with a 250 gallon water tank and a 4 inch hose. You gotta have a big enough hose to move a large volume of water and fill the hole until it will not take anymore water. If I don't drown them, then I shoot them when they stick thier head out. Then fill the hole in with whatever you want. A typical waterhose from your house will not work.

I'd try to run a slurry into the holes. As far as getting those varmints to "go away", I've had the best luck with juicy fruit gum. They love it and it, well, it "gums them up". I know, a lot of people swear by "lead poisoning" but I just don't have the time for that.
