GPS anti theft device

My oldest daughter had her car stolen last Sunday night. Been almost a week and no word so I guess it is half way to China by now.

Anyway she is thinking about getting one of these aftermarket GPS locaters to put on her soon to be; new to her used car.

Does anyone have any first hand info on these things. I know nothing about them but I am worried they work on the cars battery power. In other words you disconnect the battery it stops the GPS from working.

I might look into the lojack system. I know it has its own battery so even if the main battery is disconnected, it will keep running. You can also stash it just about any where you want on the car.

I really hate to be so negative, but we all need to start planning how to secure the assets that we have.. I casually mentioned to some friends that someone had taken some stripped copper wire from the bed of an old truck in my yard.. After I heard of what these friends had lost in the past month, I felt lucky.. One had lost over 3 grand in old coins, another had lost several farm implements... It looks like having stuff stolen is just going to be a fact of life.. As badly as I hate to say it..

Perhaps we all need to invest in companies that make chain, cables and locks..

best is to call your local law enforcement and see if they use any of the systems at all. if the dept is big enough they might already be set up for lo-jack.

or if your considering getting a GM vehicle see if u can get onstar.

Or ammunition.

And save all the whining about liability, lawyers and criminals rights and how much trouble I'll be in. That sort of thinking is what gives people the idea that what's yours is theirs.

Bad part is, we can't always be where our stuff is, due to work and other activities. As rule, the crooks have 24 hours a day to scope out our stuff, while we are off working..

Sad but true.

I've had a few minor run-ins with the criminal element around here, and they know I ain't easy pickin's.

Not that that will keep me from getting ripped off if they're desperate enough, but I'm not high on their list.

With all of the theft, especially for salvage material I am beginning to think we need ol' Judge Roy Bean back on the bench.

He was the one that told a jury to reconvene after they had rendered a not-guilty verdict--as he had the prisoner hung a half hour before.

Yup, we might have to return to justified vigilante justice such as in the old west days. It is time property owners once again had some rights to protect their property.

I'm of the opinion that thieves seldom if ever change, are a detriment to a civilized society and might as well be put on a chain gang at hard labor. If that isn't enough deterrent and they are caught a second time for the same offense it might as well be the death penalty.

Maybe you can guess that I don't have much use for thieves. Car stolen---2007, so far nothing else.
